  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, let's try to be generous here, folks---perhaps Joe wasn't intentionally lying through his teeth; perhaps he was just confused.
Much of what he says in public can probably be explained that way. With this particular incident...probably not.

We have to remember that he is, after all, an extremely elderly man, and he likely needs help finding his way to the bathroom (and reminded of what he needs to do once he gets there), so if he seems a little befuddled on his facts now and then, it may be not that he's malicious, it's simply because he's senile.

If Trump said "Tuesday" when he meant "Wednesday," it was chalked up as a dastardly lie

Show us that. Doesn't sound very likely.

When Biden lies, it's so fantastic that people have all sorts of room to say "what he really meant was...." When it doesn't even make sense, the alibis and "what he really meants" are limitless.

We've had four years of that from Trump and his enablers.
When he stood up before a crowd of armed and furious people he had invited to Washington and told them there was a crime in progress under the Capitol Dome — “and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore” — Donald Trump didn’t really mean it. It was, well, metaphor or something.
What Trump really meant: It was all just an misunderstanding

“And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?” The President said. “So it’d be interesting to check that.”

The President told a group of reporters Friday that he was being sarcastic.

It's funny that Trump supporters can't decide if Biden is too senile to find his way around, or so fiendishly clever that he surprised everyone in the primaries, mopped the floor with Trump in the debates, and rigged the election so cleverly that no one could find any evidence.

Which story they peddle, depends on what they want to be true that day.

But any honest person would know he couldn't possibly mean that the vaccine hadn't been CREATED seeing he and others around the country had already been vaccinated.
Townhall.com journalists are either ignorant of his past statements or deliberately being dishonest. idk

Are you proposing we should change the standard for criticizing the words of a President from what it was the last four years?

Are you sure that the people you have heard doing that aren't simply engaging in parody? Seems very much like what was occurring from 2016 to 2020.

No, I'm not. You should be judging Biden's statement the same way you judged Trump's statements. That is what I'm trying to do.

Glad to hear it but do you think others will follow that course? I am convinced that CNN , Fox and many others both corporate and individual will not. their standards are based more upon who is speaking than what is being said.

Well, in my particular case, I don't think that I've ever said that Biden is fiendishly clever.

Being smart enough to beat Donald Trump in a debate doesn't really require much intelligence. What I'm seeing from Biden is mostly common sense and willingness to think things out.

He didn't mop the floor with anybody in the debates, least of all Trump

Most people would differ about that.

Poll: Majority of viewers say Biden won final debate
Debate watchers surveyed in a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll said, by a 15-point margin, Biden performed better than Trump.

A CNBC/Change Research poll conducted Tuesday and Wednesday found 53% of likely voters nationwide said Biden did a better job in the debate, compared with 29% for Trump.
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/01/biden-leads-polls-voters-say-he-beat-trump-in-first-debate.html

his showing in the primaries was basically due to the fact that the Democrats knew that the lineup of people they really wanted consisted of radical Communist sympathizers and gay gun-grabbers, both of which were and are decidedly unpalatable to the vast majority of the American public.

Yes, Biden's proposals were a lot more mainstream democrat. But even then, he rather carefully outmaneuvered his opponents in the primaries. Trump's obvious cognitive decline made the issue a plus for Biden, who was obviously more physically and mentally capable than Donald.

He's done pretty well so far, given the polarized nature of the country.

As SNL writers have mentioned more than once, the last administration was hard to parody, because no matter how weird they wrote it, the president would do something even more weird.

Most of Trump's spokesmen were expressing anger that the press was quoting what Trump said, instead of what the claimed he actually meant.

I hope they continue to do that. Granted, Trump is not the most articulate person, but news organizations should report what a president says.

Townhall.com journalists are either ignorant of his past statements or deliberately being dishonest.

Townhall blatantly admits on is About Us page their mission is to tell very conservative lies. Anybody who thinks its information is real news supports Qanon conspiracy theories and the U.S. Capitol attackers.

Oh, things have changed . . .

Like having a democratically elected decent man who supports science over money and truth over power. A man who is very patriotic and will always help other people before himself. A man who loves Jesus and uses the Bible in his speeches to prove it. Joe Biden is the man we have been waiting for because he is in many ways the opposite of the disaster named Donald Trump.

Well, Biden will never reach Trump's total. Not with Biden apologists doing the counting.

If Trump said "Tuesday" when he meant "Wednesday," it was chalked up as a dastardly lie and added up on some mythical adding machine along with a lot of talk about there having been another lie recorded.

When Biden lies, it's so fantastic that people have all sorts of room to say "what he really meant was...." When it doesn't even make sense, the alibis and "what he really meants" are limitless.

Every single lie Donald Trump said was obvious. to people who knew he is a pathological liar. You will not hear Joe Biden say crap like, "We have billions of vaccines in reserve" if by some miracle he discovers the manufacturers are waiting to ship doses out. He also was correct that there are no vaccine reserves.

Oh, indeed they have. All you have to do is ask a Keystone pipeline worker.

This thread has absolutely nothing to do with job layoffs, but anyone who cares about the environment is likely to oppose the Keystone XL Pipeline construction. It would have ruined drinking water.

Biden will never reach Trumps total for two basic reasons. He doesn't lie as often as Trump does to start with, but more importantly Biden doesn't need to have his ego stroked by being in the news or on TV every single day. The latter issue is the one that will make the largest difference. I seriously doubt that Biden will even get to 1/4 of Trumps Pinocchio total.

The truth of the matter was made very plain when the Indian tribes, objecting to the pipeline being run through their reservations, suggested an alternative route that would take it close to the communities of the people who were advocating it's construction.

There was much jowl-quivering outrage at the suggestion that they should risk the health and safety of their own families.

Seems the only standard Biden has to maintain regarding most anything is not being Trump.

A rather low bar, but that's what the republican party has given us.

He doesn't even have to be Biden either.

But he is:

After granting relief to winter storm-torn Texas earlier this week, President Joe Biden on Thursday offered the state and its neighbors additional resources as needed, the White House said – a noticeable departure from former President Donald Trump’s approach to disaster relief and a sign of how Biden will handle relationships with even Republican governors.
White House Says Biden Offered Texas Governor More Federal Disaster Relief

Nice to have a genuine American in the WH once again.
