  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

During a town hall with CNN on Tuesday night, President Joe Biden blatantly lied about when the COVID-19 vaccine was created. According to the president, the vaccine for the Wuhan coronavirus was not yet available when his administration took over on Jan. 20.

and then this:
Facts First: Biden's claim is false; it's not true that there was an initial media consensus that the 100 million goal was impossible. Some of the early news coverage of the goal did not even question whether it was plausible. Some experts featured in the early coverage, including CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, said the goal was achievable. And while some journalists and experts were more skeptical, cautioning that the goal was ambitious, they did not go so far as to say it was impossible.

It doesn't matter. It REALLY doesn't matter. The rollout seems to be going okay and the collaborative efforts from both the Trump administration and the Biden administration have made it possible.

Though it pains me to pay the man a compliment, operation Warp Speed was indeed a great thing. And Biden's race to the 100M mark is ALSO a great thing.

I just don't know why these joint efforts can't be given equal due credit. America always seems to be on the brink of civil war over Blue and Red, and it's just silly. I think the phrase "grow up" comes to mind.

*Edit, I shouldn't generalise by saying "America" - I should really focus on the minority. My apologises.

Good, I hope the media holds Biden's feet to the fire to keep him honest on specific facts.

During a town hall with CNN on Tuesday night, President Joe Biden blatantly lied about when the COVID-19 vaccine was created. According to the president, the vaccine for the Wuhan coronavirus was not yet available when his administration took over on Jan. 20.
This is what Biden said,
"The biggest thing is when you and I talked last, we talked about it's one thing to have the vaccine – which we didn't have when we came into office – but a vaccinator," Biden said. How do you get the vaccine into someone's arm?"

He needs to be specific. In previous interviews, he explained that they thought, just as many did, including governors, that there were vaccines in stock that hadn't been distributed yet to the states but there weren't. That is what he is referring to when he says they didn't have the vaccine [to put in people's arms] when they came into office.
But any honest person would know he couldn't possibly mean that the vaccine hadn't been CREATED seeing he and others around the country had already been vaccinated.
Townhall.com journalists are either ignorant of his past statements or deliberately being dishonest. idk

Thank you for pointing out the actual facts of President Biden's statement, Hank. Good job blowing a hole through the spurious narrative that he deliberately lied. That being said, I agree that he should have been more specific in his speech. You're right when you said any honest person would know he couldn't possibly mean the COVID vaccine hasn't been created yet after he and other people around the country have already been vaccinated with it. I appreciate you posting the correct information.

It doesn't matter that the president held a news conference and lied to the American people about such an important subject??

When did THIS (that it doesn't matter) become the new standard? Oh yeh...November 3, 2020.

When all is said and done, there is more SAID than done. The only thing that matters are the results.

On the vaccine front, BOTH administrations have achieved a good result. In 50 years that'll be the only thing people remember or care about. Not "who said what".

Plus, Hank cleared it up nicely. I think it's fairly obvious what was said. But besides the point, Trump and Biden both did good on this. I'm sorry if that upsets some of you.

Okay, I'll address the topic.

I think what he meant, was that there WAS a vaccine created but the efficacy data had only really just come in. Now that he is in office, Biden has the luxury of an oven ready rollout plan, on the table, rearing to go (thanks to Warp Speed.)

Now that I type this, it IS mildly concerning that a 30 year old, working class bloke from the other side of the pond is explaining this. Joe needs to start drinking more coffee.

If Biden lies it's normalcy. If Trump lies it's the end of the Republic.

Know the difference people.

Whenever Trump lied, it was always excuses to immediately dismiss whatever he said. So, now it's unconvincing whenever Trump supporters attempt to judge Biden and point out his dishonesty.

It seems nothing has really changed - Just who is in the White House -

Um, that's a bit misleading on your part:

Why did Team Trump vow to release non-existent vaccine supplies?

In the weeks prior to Biden taking office, the Trump administration had been talking about apparently non-existent 'reserves' that were being held, which Biden commented on at the time, and which later turned out to not even exist. *That* is what Biden meant by the vaccine not being available for him to start shipping immediately as he said he would when it was announced that some amount of vaccine was being held in reserve.

Considering the fact that both of the current vaccines were already being distributed before he took office, it wouldn't make sense to interpret his statements to mean that the vaccines didn't even exist yet. That's not what he said or what he meant.

Ok, you got him there. Kudos for CNN for picking it up. Let me know if and when Biden reaches Trump's total of around 30,500 Pinocchio statements.

Oh ... things have changed ...

Yes, things have changed. We have a calm and rational adult back in the Oval Office again instead of a man who behaves like a spoiled little boy who throws a tantrum every time he doesn't get his way or whenever someone dares to criticize him. Despite President Biden's personal flaws, he is more capable of being presidential and more suited to be president than Trump ever was. Personally, I'm relieved he won the election and I feel hopeful for America again. I didn't feel hopeful during Trump's presidency.

Joe definitely made mistakes but prior to the one where he said they didn't have the vaccine when they entered office, he spoke of the vaccine and the vaccinations during Trump's administration.

Performance counts. If Biden gets the vaccines out and into arms, then he's done his job. And yes, Trump lied about the seriousness of the pandemic being a "hoax", but he later did promote development of vaccines.

Well, Biden will never reach Trump's total. Not with Biden apologists doing the counting.

If Trump said "Tuesday" when he meant "Wednesday," it was chalked up as a dastardly lie and added up on some mythical adding machine along with a lot of talk about there having been another lie recorded.

When Biden lies, it's so fantastic that people have all sorts of room to say "what he really meant was...." When it doesn't even make sense, the alibis and "what he really meants" are limitless.

Well, let's try to be generous here, folks---perhaps Joe wasn't intentionally lying through his teeth; perhaps he was just confused.

We have to remember that he is, after all, an extremely elderly man, and he likely needs help finding his way to the bathroom (and reminded of what he needs to do once he gets there), so if he seems a little befuddled on his facts now and then, it may be not that he's malicious, it's simply because he's senile.
