Because it was a neutral country. Which didn't stop the US dropping more bombs on the country than at any time in any war.
That was the claim. The reality was Laos was not a neutral country, the Pathet Lao were communist puppets of the North Vietnamese and North Vietnamese troops were established in Laos.

Which gave you no right to drop over a quarter of a billion bombs on them (not a typo). And kill tens of thousands, almost every one a non combatant.

It's nonsensical to suggest that US exceptionalism means that everyone there has a 'win at all costs' belief. But reading this thread doesn't exactly counter that impression.

Australia had an extensive number of troops in Vietnam as well. The Ho Chi Minh trail in Laos and military targets were bombed, there was no reason to bomb non-combatants. To me, you fight a war to win. I would prefer to keep out of war, but weakness emboldens the bullies.

From here: Why Laos Has Been Bombed More Than Any Other Country | HISTORY
By 1975, one-tenth of the population of Laos, or 200,000 civilians and members of the military, were dead.

There'll be a point where a map of Gaza will be published which will show how many bombs were dropped. Just like this one for Laos. It's the same mind-set...win at all costs. Bear in mind this was officially a neutral country.

The Communist Pathet Lao killed 300,000 people. The U.S. was unable to save those people due to the nature of the limited war. Bombs could only slow them up.

That's the Palestinian playbook to allow them to continue terror, we've gone through the throwing rocks, just enough of a hold back to play on sympathies of a left leaning press. But it is clear with the butchery of over a thousand, the rape, the torture in front of family members, of exactly who these people are, the people currently holding children hostages. They intend to kill every Jew, they will not tolerate the tiny proportion of land that is Israel in the middle of an Arab population.
It's the international law playbook and of course it's so much more civilized (and braver) to kill 10X more Palestinians from the safety of 20,000 feet.

Can someone help me with understanding why hostages released by Hamas are Palestinians ?

Does this mean some of those murdered were Palestinians as well ?

How does that all work - is is violent hatred against anyone living in Israel regardless of race?

This quote from Elon Musk after visiting the sites where innocents were murdered.

“Thank you for having me. It was certainly an emotionally difficult day, to see the places where people were murdered. And also to watch the video where the murderers are rejoicing. Celebrating the murder of innocent people is extremely disturbing. So we have to do whatever we whatever is necessary to stop the hate. Essentially these people have been fed propaganda since they were children. And it's remarkable what humans are capable of if they're fed falsehoods, from when they are children, they will think that the murder of innocent people is a good thing. That is how much propaganda can affect people's minds. So you know, I actually did talk with the Prime Minister. And I think there's three things that need to happen in the Gaza situation, there's no choice but to kill those who insist on murdering civilians. You are notgoing to change their mind. But the second thing is to change the education so the new generation of murderers is not trained to be murderers. And the third thing, which also very important is to try to build prosperity.”

I think it is the hands of the Almighty.
Tradition has it that,
when God gathers the Jewish exiles from all the corners of the earth,

the "lost tribes of Israel" will also return to their homeland under the leadership of the Messiah.
A descendant of the house of David.

Israel will then once again be a united people, one nation, one land, one faith and one God.

When the capital of the Northern kingdom fell scores of thousands
were led into captivity, in their place came other settlers from
Assyria, especially the Kutheans, who became known as Samaritans,
they occupied the land of Israel.

During the Vietnam War the United States dropped approximately twice as many tons of bombs in Southeast Asia as the Allied forces combined used against both Germany and Japan in World War II. Between 1964 and 1973, U.S. aircraft expended over seven million tons of bombs in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, compared to 3.4 million tons dropped by the United States and its allies in all of World War II.

U.S. forces used huge amounts of ordnance in the ground war as well, on a level the Army’s logistics command described in one study as “devastating conventional firepower unparalleled in military history.” Noting that American commanders also faced virtually no limit on their ability to move troops, munitions, and supplies, the study’s authors added:

The logistics scene was characterized by almost unlimited supply, remarkable [sic] high operational readiness rates as applied to equipment, a seemingly endless flow of ammunition and petroleum and immunity for the most part from external fiscal restraints.

Just more evidence we could have won the war but tied our troops hands behind their backs. Geez its not wonder you guys can't figure out what it takes to win. Israel is beating Hamas. And you want them to stop. Then you think we did everything necessary In vietnam. Sigh.

We lost vietnam because we didn't do what it took to win. We sacrificing a ton of lives And using a lot of bullets doesn't win you a war. Your strategy matters.

No will? You sent over three million troops there in total. And lost nearly sixty thousand. You think that shows a lack of committment? That position is ridiculous. Maybe you mean that a final and belated realisation that you were not going to win and only lose more lives equates to a lack of will.

Yeah, political correctness. What a laugh. You don't think it had anything to do with the civillian casualties I posted earlier? Nothing to do with the stupendously horrendous number of innocents being killed? Nothing to do with America's friends telling them that they needed to stop?

Peace with honour, the man said. Well, we've all seen the footage.
I think I've already addressed this. I guess you want to keep bringing it up. Of course it has to do with political correctness which was based on citizen death. Which was part of it. The other part was not to be the aggressors. Back off play defense which continues to result in civilian death.

Even some of the sickest and most twisted human beings in history have not shown such cowardice as Hamas. Hamas is afraid to take on Israeli soldiers one on one so they attack the babies and the elderly and celebrate their beheading and torture. They hide underground using hospitals and women and children for protection. Still they hold hostages. This is the way of the jihadist. So the Israelis, after taking considerable time to help the civilians get away, bomb the tunnel network. Yes there is a large force of Palestinians who are either Hamas or Hamas supporters, that somehow Israel is supposed to count and stop bombing at exactly the same number of Israelis dead has never been followed by any nation. Israel is outnumbered by jihadists in areas surrounding them and has a tiny land area compared to surrounding Muslims. Yes jihadists beg and plead it is not fair and then go on to their next slaughter. They believe their religion allows them to lie. After the Jews they will go after the Christians.

No, it's win at any cost. Sacrifice as many of your own as it takes and ignore the civilian deaths you cause. The mentality is the same.

...so Musk pays a visit after re-tweeting a message that many perceived to be anti-semtice (with major avertisers leaving X). Hopefully, he understands how reckless his actions were...

Yes, Hamas is a terrorist organization that has no regard for Palestinian lives.
What is your point?

No to mention that the left complains about Israel hitting a building with people shooting at them from it but not a word from them complaining that the person is using the building in the first place. Not a word about Hamas using the the hospital as a base, not a word about Hamas using them as weapon storage areas. Not a word about Hamas using mosques as missile manufacturing and storage sites. Not a word about Hamas using baby cribs as safe spots for launchers etc.

Not a word about Palestinians rejoicing at what happened on October 7.
