nah didnt really mean in an accusatory way. just a general loose statement, for someone who is horny all the time. It's alright, I'm pretty sure she didn't mean it in a derogatory way. At least I hope not...
yes but how can one possably touch without lusting? obviously you have to be thinking about someone naked, or doing something sexual to another person, so i dont see how you can touch without sinning.
Is lust sin? If you don't believe lust is sin, then I guess you don't believe maturbating is a sin.
Any sexual activity outside of marriage is sin.
I do believe lust is sin, but I've still yet to be shown how lust is inextricably tied to masturbation anymore than it is sex. And since masturbation involves no one but the person masturbating, the only potential sin in it, as far as I can tell, would be lust, which, as we've been over, I don't accept as a required part of masturbation.
That's an a priori assumption; a logical fallacy.
We have people in this thread that are claiming otherwise, through their own experience. Therefore, your statement is likely false.
I don't believe it. I believe your statment is false.
There is no way to make sin 'right'.![]()
No way you can not have sexual thoughts while maturbating. The thoughts at least are in your head at some point 'right' before you begin. Impossible, I don't buy it.
How so? What is your reasoning?I don't believe it. I believe your statment is false.
There is no evidence that masturbation is a sin. All we have established is that lust (which is often a sin, but not always) often accompanies masturbation, but not always (as many people with first hand experience of this very thing claim!!!). Masturbation, by itself, is neither wrong nor right; it just is.There is no way to make sin 'right'.![]()
That's an unsubstantiated claim. No way you can not have sexual thoughts while maturbating.
I can personally confirm that male genitalia can be ready and in working order with no thoughts of lust at all. Men very often have erections when they wake up in the morning, when they're watching a football match, when they're changing the oil on their motorbike, from a bumpy train ride, etc. This is not caused by sexual thoughts. Erections can often come at times with no explained reason. It's definitely possible cease the moment and touch without lusting after anything. Gukkor, and many other men in this same thread, will have no problems backing up what I've just said. The thoughts at least are in your head at some point 'right' before you begin. Impossible, I don't buy it.
Nobody said anything about not having sexual thoughts, we just said that it is possible to touch without lust. Lust is much more than mere sexual thoughts. It's a selfish, focused desire, far stronger a feeling than most people assume it to be nowadays. Think of it this way: people often say that a greedy or overly ambitious person has a "lust for power." Now, all people have some degree of a desire for power or control, but the desire for power in and of itself isn't sinful and isn't what the above phrase is referring to. It is of course referring to a person with a near-obessive drive to accumulate control of their environment and those around them. That is what lust really is.
Now, granted, sexual thoughts are almost always a large part of lust, but again, just as lust can be a part of masturbation but doesn't have to be, so sexual thoughts can be a part of lust but don't have to be. However, this is a point on which I know several Christians would disagree, and one that is separate from the topic of this thread, so I won't argue it further.
All that said, though, yes, it really is very possible to touch without having any sexual thoughts at all. But if you don't believe me, I certainly won't dispute your right to disagree.
How so? What is your reasoning?

I cannot, however, speak for females like yourself. Perhaps women are incapable of separating lust from masturbation?
Ok, we agree to disagree.
I know we sometimes justify our behavior to keep doing something we enjoy. I've been there.
I know this as well, and I've been accused of it before regarding this subject. Seems to be a common misconception among some that if one disagrees with them about some moral or ethical issue, one must obviously be making excuses to keep doing what they enjoy. I'd say that's a rather unreasonable judgement to make about someone's motives if one can't back it up, no?
No.This thread was split automatically after 1000 replies and this thread has been automatically created.
