I think again you may be missing the point here. An emission can (and does) come on its own as well, and with intercourse. There's no direct connection to that passage and the act of masturbation.

One other point I forgot to bring up, on top of my previous post: Whether God convicts you or not in an absolute sense (hasn't me, but has curtailed my behavior strictly as mentioned), remember that there are still issues. Risk of excess, in any activity (especially one on as slippery a slope) is there, and that's cause for concern. Also, there are times when we're called to forgo things we enjoy even though they aren't the least bit sinful, for the sake of putting Him, His work and His ministry to us first.

Just felt I needed to add that. Even if you can, in faith, rule out the sinfulness, I still don't see it as free and clear.

Indeed, but in that sense, very few activities one may participate in are "free and clear."

Is masturbation a sin?

the answer is quite clear.... if scripture doesn't address it, its not a sin.

Masturbation is not a sin, unless lusting after anyone other then your spouse is involved. The reason most people say it is impossible to touch without lusting is because they did not wait long enough, to achieve the desired effect. Most people touch in excess. If a person waits long enough without masturbating, they can in fact and in Truth, touch without ever lusting. How is it, people are not willing to wait to such point as that, but would rather commit sin by lusting, so they can touch now. then excuse their actions by one excuse or another.
i am here to tell you the Truth, Anyone can touch without lusting, and it is not impossible to do. But because people lack patience, and want to feel the pleasure NOW, they do not want to wait, so they in their greediness, desire to satisfy their flesh NOW, and not wait to such point, where they can touch without lusting. This is a wicked generation that lives in the last days. But what excuse have you now, knowing this Truth, When you stand before God on Judgement Day and have to answer for every single time you masturbated with lust in your heart and on your mind, How will you now be able to answer, knowing that you could have in fact masturbated without lusting, but were not willing to let enough time go by without doing so, just so you can feel the pleasure thereof. Again i will teach you, that letting enough time pass without masturbating, you will be able to touch without lusting, IF you let enough time pass without masturbating. How is it, this greedy generation will not even try this, because it requires them to give up the pleasure of masturbating for a period of time, in order to not sin with lust? This wicked generation would rather just lust and touch whenever they want to, then make excuses for such behavior and think they are in good standing with God. Altogether taking the broad and wide path, that leads to destruction.

Now i have told you the Truth, what will be your excuse when you stand before God on Judgement Day, and have to explain, EVERY SINGLE TIME, you masturbated in lust?

Luke 17
1Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! 2It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

I Corinthians 6:12- 'All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but i will not be brought under the power of any.'

The question of whether touching yourself is sinful stems from a misunderstanding of the concept of sin in general, and more specifically sin as it applies to Christians. 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' Sin is a state of unholiness, falling short of the glory of God, more than a simple act. But as Christians, we have been permanently justified, placed into a state of holiness, whether our actions are deserving of that or not. The question for us as Christians no longer becomes 'Is this a sin?' or more accurately, 'Is this allowed?' The question now should be, 'Is this helpful? Does it draw me closer to God? Does it build up His Kindgom?' If the answer is no, then we should not be doing it, not because it is a sin, but because we want to be doing what will draw us closer to Him.

Thank you for replying with wisdom and a different view altogether. It makes the most sense to me.

God please help us with this matter. Bless us LORD...

I am married, but my wife is seeing another man, and is living in sin. I still long to be with my wife sexually, and have great desire for her, but while she has a hardened heart toward god she does not want to be with me.

I do not know the answer to the touching yourself question, but I do know that I touch while thinking only about my wife, and how much I want to be with her. If I do not touch then I am thinking about her sexually alot and it makes it hard to show her the corinthians love, of forgiveness and long suffering, because she is not turning from the sin with this man, but she looks at me with disdain when I look at her with longing.

I am not condoning anyone to touch, but I am only longing to be with my wife I am still married to and not have to offend her, or walk each day with the longing for her always hurting our chances of reconciliation. I love my wife and pray the father does not look down upon my desires for the wife of my youth that has turned her back upon our marriage bed.

If I am sinning, then I pray someone will tell me so, and if not then I would like to know as well.

My lust is for my wife only, and I love and pray for her constatly.

Sorry if this was long.

Thanks for the feedback, I wish that it were spelled out in the bible, but I do know God knows my heart and desires are for my wife and my wife alone. The fact I cannot be with her, he knows as well. I am greatful to a merciful God who is strong when we are weak, and loves us even when everyone else has left you alone.

One problem with that POV.
There are many things that we do that Do not build up His Kingdom, nore draw us cloer to God.

Going to the bathroom
Taking a shower
Sleeping
Enjoying a slice of birthday cake.
Listing to some country music.
And this list can go on & on.
Are we to stop doing the above becuse it dosn't draw us closer to God or build up His Kingdom ?

Very true. I'd say it would be more precise to say that we should seek to do that which is spiritually helpful and avoid doing that which is spiritually detrimental. Some things, like sleeping, going to the bathroom, and (in my opinion) masturbation, aren't really either; they're just kinda there, to do or not do as we see fit and appropriate. Now, that said, under particular conditions, any such "neutral" activities could become either helpful or detrimental, but in and of themselves, it matters little whether one engages in such things.

Wow - we could beat this topic to death......:sorry::blush:

Okay, on a serious note;

My view, in all honesty, changes as i think more about it. I do lean towards the sin aspect as it is rare that lust and touching yourself do not meet. I have heard it said that one can do the act without the lust...and i believe that to be true - probably more common and possible for women then men, but it can happen. But, does that make it right? I don't know.

I think this is a personal conviction and one an individual Christian needs to work out on his/her own.
