Theology is the study of the "beliefs" about God. The study of the "mystery" is when it becomes about God.That's what theology is by definition... the study of God.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth... and 'truth' is whatever we want it to mean.
It's all about Love. Period!I do preach love. But love in itself isn't the gospel. The love of God is an important component of the gospel.
That's John saying that, right?John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Yup ... under inspiration of the Holy Ghost. That's John saying that, right?
So these guys also believed God's word meant 'truth' .. and anyone who believed in God, also heard that same meaning whenever they spoke(?)Yup ... under inspiration of the Holy Ghost.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Proverbs 1:22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge"1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Nonsense. If there's no God, there's no ultimate authority to say anything is wrong. There's just different flavors of preference. Perhaps I prefer rape and murder and you prefer golf. Whose to say I'm wrong and you are right?By definition, sin is a transgression against divine law. If you don't believe in God, you don't believe in sin.
Get the basics right.
It's not something you get to decide all by yourself, even if there was no God.Nonsense. If there's no God, there's no ultimate authority to say anything is wrong. There's just different flavors of preference. Perhaps I prefer rape and murder and you prefer golf. Whose to say I'm wrong and you are right?
Why not? Many leaders have done just that. And been successful. Look at Rome. Violent death was fine as long as a person was your enemy. In a world created by mere chance it makes perfect sense. The strongest and meanest rules. It's not something you get to decide all by yourself, even if there was no God.
It's not moral behavior, even if it makes sense to you.Why not? Many leaders have done just that. And been successful. Look at Rome. Violent death was fine as long as a person was your enemy. In a world created by mere chance it makes perfect sense. The strongest and meanest rules.
Rules? I thought we were talking about morality. Obeying the arbitrary dictates of an omnipotent being who promises to punish the least infraction with eternal torment is not moral behavior, it is merely expedience.Only in a world with a higher Being to set the rules does survival of the fittest seem wrong.
I suggest you learn the meanings of words before you start pontificating. My definition is 100% correct.Nonsense.
2 points here:If there's no God, there's no ultimate authority to say anything is wrong. There's just different flavors of preference. Perhaps I prefer rape and murder and you prefer golf. Whose to say I'm wrong and you are right?
The ultimate authority resides in the majority consensus' meaning assigned to 'wrong' acts/behaviours (etc).Nonsense. If there's no God, there's no ultimate authority to say anything is wrong.
I'd like to think that Love is the thing that make survival of the fittest seem wrong. It's more universal in its expression, and no need to argue "my god is best".Only in a world with a higher Being to set the rules does survival of the fittest seem wrong.
Is polygamy okay?I'd like to think that Love is the thing that make survival of the fittest seem wrong. It's more universal in its expression, and no need to argue "my god is best".
I couldn't do that. Been married 40 years now. And I like my wife a lot.Is polygamy okay?
