I really don't get why you guys fall for this "flat earth" lie. Because it is just that -- a lie. Is it some sort of extreme contrarianism?

It took years of observing scientific experiments and observations to change me paradigm from globe to flat. If you want to prove a globe, you have a lot of work ahead of you.

It does answer your question actually.

No, it does not.

Here's an actual person admitting she was taught flat earth in public school a century ago. So much for your books.

"So much" for my books? They show what was being taught. What you offer is a single person. If she was in fact taught the Earth was flat, then at most that would indicate that in her particular school this was done... not that it was in any way the norm. One can always find some school or teacher who teaches something fringe, it doesn't mean it's what most were teaching.

But we run into an additional question, which is whether her claim is true to begin with. As is noted, she was 102 years old (it says she was born in 1918). Older people have a much higher chance of suffering from some kind of senility, whether it be major (like outright dementia) or more minor memory loss. The video offers no evidence that her memory is trustworthy; indeed, I notice that the interviewer monopolizes the conversation rather than asking her further and more specific questions on it to confirm accuracy. Further, even if her mind is perfectly fine, 90 years is a long time and even someone with a good memory is going to have things get muddled.

So best-case scenario, we have evidence that in one particular school people were taught the world was flat; this does not even support the claim that "schools" (plural) taught that, let alone that it was normative. Worst-case scenario, we have someone who is unreliable who makes the claim. Neither supports your claim.

It would be amusing if I asked you to prove your assumptions.
I've asked you to prove yours, yet you simply deflect. It is apparent you are just here to troll.

The peak experimental effort of the flat earth researcher (sic) community was the guy who launched himself in a rocket to show the Earth was flat. They have no actual research.

Don't forget the ring laser gyroscope a group purchased to prove the earth was stationary, only to prove it rotated at 15°/Hr.
I wonder if they still have it, and would be willing to make the trip to South America to repeat their experiment, which would show the same rotation but in the opposite direction.

Anyone can set up their own Foucault's Pendulum experiment to see the same effect, or they can visit one of the many places it has been set up.

After years of seeing hundreds of experiments either reflected or performed by so many sources who put their work online for others to witness, such as Dr. John D, Kyle Adams, Taboo Conspiracy, Globebusters, Jeranism, Witsit, DITRH, p-brane, and just dozens and dozens more, there come a point when you realize that all the science the globe actually has are created images, swirling toilets, and inconclusive stick experiments.

I think I see where you went wrong.

Nope. I'm dead serious. I've already said several times I won't be making any attempt to persuade, rather just try to discuss. I don't think I'm able to discuss anything honestly with anyone who has responded to me on this thread so far. All I've seen is belittling and insulting.

I'll say this again, and maybe someone will try to listen. I'm not pushing flat earth. I don't care if you believe it or not. I will not bang my head against the wall to try to 'prove' anything to people unwilling to learn anything. Call me any name or assign any imaginary motivation to me that you want, but you are just showing me you are just simply not worth any of my time other than superficial dialog. It is what it is.

No. Our discussion is over. You are too childish for me.

There really isn't any thing to discuss. The Earth is not flat, Mr. Pickle, and it never has been. The only "evidence" of a flat earth is self deception and misunderstanding. YouTube morons doing "experiments" to "prove" a flat Earth, not only fail to make that demonsteration, but far too often manage to prove the counter (that the Earth is round.) Don't fall off the edge, because you've definitely fallen down a YouTube rabbit hole of foolishness.

And that's one of the reasons I'm convinced that Flat earth is of the Devil, to make Christianity look foolish.

I might join you if I thought there was such a being as "the devil" or that Christianity needed help looking foolish.

The modern flat-earth-ism is some sort of bad science/contrarian/conspiracy thing that (to be certain) some Christians get attached to because there are those passages that demonstrate the flat-Earth Babylonian cosmology woven into the Torah. One of the participants in this thread is deeply tied to a literalistic reading of the failed cosmology of Genesis et al. while the other is obsessed with YouTubers who are either completely broken in their thinking and reasoning skills or have figured out it's false and are now just running a scam on their subscribers and supporters.

The flat earth is just as dumb as the "electric universe" nonsense, but it does have that one hook to literalism that attracts more suckers (I mean adherents) to the scammy web pages and social media sites.

This makes no sense and has no congruence with reality.

Of course it is. All intersections between a plane and a sphere are circles. But, the concept of equator has no meaning on a flat Earth.

"Move to their area"? What nonsense is this? If the Earth is flat I should be able to see the stars above Argentina as it is night at the same time there as it is here. Why can they see stars we can't and vice versa?

Of course it does not to you, just like a creator God makes no sense to you.

Did not know you have super sight, but i guess that is the way you think. Being that you believe you can see stars from light years away.

A creator god is irrelevant to the shape of the Earth. As am I.

Every star I've ever seen (except one) is light years away. Do you have any idea how luminous stars are?

If you are going to give a science lie answer, you can keep your science lies. I already hear enough lies in daily life from government, media and other sources.

No, but that joke has been posted on flat earth threads several times.
True, though the same could be said for all of the arguments for and against a flat earth (not to mention just about any other subject on message boards in general).

Advice from European christianity, no thanks since Europe is such a strong hold for christianity, i will pass your advice and beliefs.
Not sure how it is relevant for your mental state...

Anyway, many European countries act more Christian-like than USA. Do not mistake religious or national extremism for "a good Christianity".

I actually cannot recall any Christian school of thought, originating in the USA, that is helpful. Many bad and even absurd ones, though.
