The number of flights in the northern hemisphere as compared to the southern hemisphere are irrelevant. The fact still remains that flights are available in the southern hemisphere. Like for example from Johannesburg South Africa to Sydney Australia. The flight time is around 11 hrs 45 min. So because flights do exist in the southern hemisphere the general public can know how far it is by doing some simple math.

Clearly, a map of the world reflecting its true geometric, geographic, and geodetic nature, is required. Development of such a map will not be an easy task but will require many specialists, including, but certainly not limited to, cartographers, geographers, geodesists, astronomers, and earth scientists. Additionally, input from aviators, sailors, and RF operators at all levels is critical. Finally, information technology specialists with the skills to process and re-organize public or commercially available databases and real time data inputs, are indispensible.
We already have all of these resources and have had them for hundreds of years. That’s how we got our maps and how they have gotten more accurate over time.
