I have stated before, that water would have to to be perfectly still/calm for it to be absolutely flat. When you speak of a boat on water you are not seeing a absolutely calm flat surface. Especially if this is in an ocean or even a large lake water has movement

Look at the diagram below. If you standing on a balcony 50 feet above the water level watching a ship that is 50 feet tall sail off into the horizon the waves can’t obstruct the bottom of the boat. The only way they can obstruct the view of the bottom of the boat is if the water goes above the line of sight. If you can only see the top half of the boat that means that the water has to be at least 25 feet high in order to block the line of sight. That’s if the water right behind the boat is blocking the line of sight. Halfway between you and the boat the water would have to be 37.5 feet high in order to block the line of sight. This equation doesn’t change with distance, here’s why. Notice in the diagram the waves appear smaller as they go off into the distance just like the boat does. That’s because as the boat appears to get smaller as it goes off into the distance the waves also get smaller by the exact same proportion. Your not taking that into account because a 2 foot wave cannot hide a 50 foot tall ship if you are looking at it from an elevated position. So if the ship is 5 miles away then the water right behind the ship would have to be 25 feet high in order to block the line of sight and at 2.5 miles which would be the halfway point between you and the ship the water would have to be 37.5 feet high to block the line of sight. Now at 20 miles that doesn’t change the water still has to be 25 feet high right behind the ship to block the line of sight and at the halfway point, 10 miles, it would have to be 37.5 feet high to block the line of sight. At 100 miles the same exact equation still applies the water still has to be 25 feet right behind the boat and 37.5 feet at 50 miles to block the line of sight.

So from your drawing the line that goes from your boat to the observer represents 100 miles. If that is correct, your boat must be a 15-20 mile long boat.

According to your illustration the person at 50 ft height is looking at a boat at about 550 ft away.
So that is not very far away, you need at least a mile for your illustration.
Our line of sight is not that low. For something to obscure our line-of-sight, ... the obscurance must be at least 4-5 foot high. Ripples and waves on a calm water surface are not that high.-Funny how a 12 inch box can cover up a two story house.

Why would that matter on a flat earth? The equation is still the same. In order for only the top half of the boat to be visible the waves would have to be at least 25 feet high, that’s the only way they could block the line of sight.
Distance matters.
If a person is doing a sight curve test, the lower one is to the ground, the more (if the earth was a globe) of the object in the distance should be covered up by the curving earth/ground.
