Is Struggling with sin normal?

Do we continue in the sin? You know it is not talking about an act of sin?
Let not, therefore, sin reign in your mortal body...

Obviously, sin can reign after a person is saved.

We are not talking about an act of sin, but rather, the chapter is referring to the dominion the sin nature has in peoples lives. The answer is no...God forbid. For (the) sin shall not have dominion over you.

All I'm saying is that the bible does not teach sinless perfection anywhere in the bible. It teaches that our sinful natures still reside in our body, and so does the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God subdues the sin nature if we allow him to by faith in Christ and the Cross.

People will always sin, by that I mean make mistakes that offend God. If not, then you are by definition perfect and do not need any spiritual growth and dependence on God to develop your character, as you are already just like Christ in word, thought, and deed, i.e. perfect, as in without flaw, or the possibility to make a mistake.

Here is a better question. At the moment you were saved by grace, have you made mistake in word, thought, or deed, that offended God or was contrary to Gods word? Be honest!

People are given Gods perfection, but we do not actually live in it in its fullness, nope not until Glory. Because we still live with the sin nature inside, thus, we cannot be fully like Christ. But when he shall appear, then we shall be like him, and in every way.

I believe that you sin and will continue to do so, because you said and believe this......But I do not believe that, just because you cannot stop, that every other Christian cannot as well.

There are some who wish to be perfect and like Christ......they come here and see that people are shamed and called lairs and sinners for even expressing these thoughts.

Yet the ones that proudly say they are sinners and will always remain sinners are praised.

Something seems off. Why try and shatter ones goal to be like Christ? Why does this Goal make some angry? Why is it wrong to desire to go and sin no more? Why must they be told that this is a foolish endeavor?

Why cant we let those that wish to be perfect go on to perfection without the extra doubt and stumbling blocks being thrown in their path?

And what does one wish to gain, by placing this doubt in the heart of one who wishes to sin no more?

It does not say that explicitly. But the sin nature resides in the flesh, and we are to be dead to the sin nature. But Galatians 5:1 says the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:

How I see it, the flesh is the vehicle whereby the sin nature acts out. Which is why we are to not yield to it, according to Romans 6:13

Not placing doubt on you. I'm just keeping it real. In this life. You will sin. It's impossible not to. Unless you are beyond ever making a mistake. If a person say they have no sin, they are a liar. That's what the bible teaches, in its proper interpretation and meaning. That's all.

I'm not saying we should not seek full Christ likeness. What I am saying is that it will never happen fully in this life. There is always room to grow, and the reason why, is because we all still have to deal with the sin nature. That does not mean we have to sin, rather, you will sin. I'm not talking about a habitual life of sin. But rather, there will be times when you fall short, even if you don't want to. No one is perfect in that aspect, nor ever will they be while in this life. Stive all you want. Please do. That is what we as children of God are to do...Grow in grace and the knowledge of God. That does not mean you are without sin at all. The person that says they are, is a liar. Plain and Simple.

So does that mean everyone steals, commits adultery, murders, lies, worships idols, practices sorcery? Is that really what you mean?

Or do you mean, overeats on Thanksgiving, slips over the speed limit, forgets someone's anniversary or birthday, hurts someone's feelings with a perceived slight, clocks in late for work, doesn't leave enough of a tip, skips a church service, passes by a homeless person without giving them anything, plays hooky from school or work, etc.

Is there any difference between paragraph one and two, or do you believe sin is sin, and both are equal in the sight of God?

Not placing doubt on you. I'm just keeping it real. In this life. You will sin. It's impossible not to. Unless you are beyond ever making a mistake. If a person say they have no sin, they are a liar. That's what the bible teaches, in its proper interpretation and meaning. That's all.

If I say that I have a desire to do something, and you tell me it is impossible to do....this is placing doubt.

I very low percetage of children become president, or famous athletes. Would you go up to a child that would says they want to be either of the two and tell them "no it isnt possibility.....you can try, but it wont happen?"

If you would not do it for to a child who desires an unlikely career, why would you put this doubt in the mind of a Child of God who desires to be like Christ?

Remember that the bible also says:

"We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not."

And the more we walk with God in obedience and get to know Him (in His Word), we start to adopt His point-of-view, seeing sin as He does. That helps a lot!

Fully agree with this and this indeed helps in the life of a christian. Put on the mind of Christ, run from sin, see it for what it really is and fight it. Hard.
