But specifics of certain Commands is important to understanding how to properly love, though. When Jesus said to the rich young ruler that if we are to enter into life we should keep the Commandments, the rich young ruler said he had kept them all. But Jesus said if you will be perfect sell all that you have and come follow me. But the rich young ruler was not willing to give up his wealth for Jesus and follow Him. He loved his riches more than he loved the LORD. No doubt the rich young ruler could have thought like most Christians today and just think he was loving God and his neighbor his own way. But we see that the rich young ruler was not willing to truly follow Jesus (and give up his wealth) and love the Lord on God's terms.
Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments. Obviously the greatest two are not the only commands He has given us. 1 John 3:23 is one command that is foundational to our faith; And preaching the gospel and helping the poor are also commands given to us under the New Testament. In fact, not helping the poor in any way in this life (especially when we had opportunity to do so) is showing that we do not love Jesus. For Jesus says, if you have done unto to the least of these, you have done it unto me. For Jesus says to those who did not help those who were poor to depart from Him. This is not to say that salvation is in helping the poor. Salvation is ultimately in Christ and abiding in Him who is the source of our eternal life. The point here is that if one abides in Christ (Who is the source of eternal life), then one will bring forth good fruit according to God's Commands in the New Testament because Christ lives in them. We go thru the Sanctification process (Which is a necessary step for all believers who live out their faith and who abide in Christ). For without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. Our holiness? No, no. Most certainly not. It is the work of Christ (God) done within us. For there is none good but God. So only His goodness can transform us (If we allow Him to do so of our own free will).
For salvation is Relationship-sim.
Salvation is abiding in Christ.
And if we abide in Christ, then the good fruit of the LORD will be in our life. In other words, we will find ourselves obeying the LORD's commands (i.e. the Commands in the New Testament and not the Old Testament).
Salvation is not Man Directed Works Alone Salvationism;
And Salvation is not Belief-Alone-ism.
Salvation is in the LORD.
As for the Law and the Prophets:
Well, this was said when the Old Covenant was still in effect. The Old Covenant Law as a whole is no longer in effect as an entire package (even though certain moral laws have appeared to have been carried over into the New Covenant). But no Christian is supposed to go back to the Old Law so as to obey God. This is why Paul said we are not under the Law. He was referring to the Old Law. It's only the Commands in the New Testament that we are to follow now. When Jesus died on the cross, the Old Covenant had ended and a New Covenant began. This is why the temple veil was torn from top to bottom. The animal sacrifices (that was a part of the Old Law) is no longer binding anymore. Jesus is our perfect sacrifice. This is why Peter freaked a little when the LORD told him to eat unclean animals in a vision. The Old Law that told him to not eat unclean animals was no longer binding; Even Jesus said shortly before the cross,
" ...A new covenant, ...hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away" (Hebrews 8:13). This old law vanished away with Christ's death upon the cross and a new set of laws within a new covenant was implimented. For when a person dies, they sometimes have a written will or testament to give money or their inheritance to their family. This is why the Scriptures say..."For a
testament [or will] is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth." (Hebrews 9:17).
Also, Jesus said the Law and the Prophets will not pass away until all will be fulfilled. Jesus fulfilled the Law portion of the Law and the Prophets on the cross. Yet, the Prophets portion of the Law and Prophets has yet to still be fulfilled because many of it's prophecies are still yet future.

Does this mean Christians are partial anarchists now? No, no. Most certainly not. The moral laws (like do not steal, do not murder, do not commit adultery, etc.) have been repeated within the New Covenant, but they are not exactly the same because they are no longer attached with death penalties if we are to disobey them. We have God's grace to be forgiven (if we confess and forsake our sins - 1 John 1:9, 1 John 1:7, Proverbs 28:13); This of course is not a means for us to have a license to sin, but it is merely a way so that we can overcome sin (by the LORD's power and help).

Now here you said a mouth full...
But if you would have read...the definition of love you would have seen it covers...
First the greatest 2...are said to be the greatest because if you did those....the rest would be inclusive.
Matthew 22:40
national Version
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments
Why read what love is:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
So...if ya love...all the things you mentioned...are inclusive
Yes, salvation is in helping the poor...for part of faith is evidence.........and
Read 1 john 3
19 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: 20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
We know we know him by what we do...recall what eternal life is:
John 17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
How do we come to know him? Keeping his commands...
So this should take us in to your next thought of being in Christ....
In short I'd say walking in his ways...doing what he did.
John 14:23
Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
So salvtion is by a faith that works through love...Jesus is our salvation....and we show evidence we believe in him.....when we obey....
