If a business picks up too many contracts for one person to handle, you hire more, and you can take a step back from personally running each contract. Its utterly different from a marriage and the comparison is frankly bizarre to me.

A marriage is a lived partnership between two people. If one of those two has to divide their time up between multiple partners (and their partners children) you cant hire a crew to make up for the lost intimacy as your time and attention is split into halves or quarters.

Your personal feelings about the practice notwithstanding there are instances of God-sanctioned plural marriage in the Bible.

Not only this - but when practicing polygamy - a man was not required to take on more wives than he could handle.

In fact - men who had difficulty providing for just the one wife and their children were not required or encouraged to participate in the practice.
