Is it possible to keep the 10 commandments?

Are you saved by the Ten Commandments or by Grace? Is it Faith or the keeping of the Ten Commandments that will see you to heaven?

Absolutely by Grace! But again, grace is NOT a license to sin. Grace and following the Commandments are not mutually exclusive...you and MANY other Christians seem to equate only one or the other.

Could you please speak more about the laws that were contrary to us?

The Moral Law will NEVER be abolished as some believe.

Well for one, sacrifices...they could only COVER sin for a time...these were shadows pointing to the reality that is Yeshua. We do not sacrifice a Passover lamb because Yeshua WAS that lamb. it would negate what he did. However none of the 10 Commandments were or are contrary to us. The Sabbath as well as marriage were there from the beginning before sin entered in ( Matthew 19:3-8 ).

Who are these elect?

All those whom God has chosen since before time began, Jew and Gentile, according to the council of His own will, according to His sovereign grace, and not anything special or chosen by the creation. That is, all those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, because God has done a work of grace in them.

Romans chapter 8 and 9.

I am discussing the Law of Moses by which no flesh shall be justified before God. Don't put words in my mouth

Two misused chapters by those who teach an unbiblical doctrine of salvation

Do you believe this then? Are they mutually exclusive, because that is what it seems you are teaching...

Only the moral part of the Law of Moses applies for believers. Not the ceremonial part related to sacrifices and festivals etc

So you are telling everyone that they need not follow the 10?
Were not the 10 part of the Mosaic law?

How do you reconcile Matthew 5:18-19 ?
Were not those that Jesus spoke to in Matthew 5 Jews, who are under the Law?

So HOW do you say you keep His Command to love one another?
Allow the Holy Spirit to live within me, to change me and form me in God's image. By surrendering to God's Spirit, that Spirit teaches us and guides us to love. If we allow the HS to guide us in love, how can there be any thought of harming another person.

So you are saying that His Commandments are DIFFERENT than the Fathers commandments He kept?
Sure, do you adhere to the Law's dietary commands?

Would you say that Jesus' commandments encompass the 10?
Please clarify.
I would say that if a person allows God's Holy Spirit to live within them, then the thought of harming another would not exist.

It is not possible to be perfect, which means each of us will do some things wrong, some things sinful. Paul was teaching about the goal we are to pursue, but in another place he says that he himself often falls short of the mark. Which is why repentance is a lifelong process, not a one time event.

The ETERNAL laws of God are to "Love God with all your mind, heart and strength, and Love your neighbor as yourself." Period.

Based on these ETERNAL laws the first covenant was made with Israel - The Ten Commandments. Exodus 34:28.

But then comes Jesus...Who is our Sabbath Rest. Whereby we keep Jesus and not merely a day.

He said:
John 15:10
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

The commandments of Jesus are all based on the heart, and not just willpower.

The New Covenant Commandments are also based on the ETERNAL laws of God. And see how Jesus encompasses the first four of the Ten Commandments.

1 John 3:23
"23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

The only way to keep these laws of the heart is by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The "grace" of God is the power of God abiding in us to keep Gods eternal laws through us.

The Ten Commandments, except for coveting, were all "bottom-line" commandments such as against murder, although you could still hate and not commit the sin. In other words, you could still have iniquity in your heart but remain "not guilty" of sin. Jesus came to remove the iniquity buried deep within us, before it ever rose to the top to commit sin! "To whom the Son makes free, is free indeed."

Here is an example. Look how far it is before a mere temptation becomes sin. James 1:14-15 "14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death."

I find myself not agreeing with even one sentence of this post, and if you are going to claim such things, where is your scriptural foundation? I'm scratching my head...

Hmm...not sure it would be just or righteous for a just and righteous God to punish us for not being able to do something that was commanded of us, i feel like that alone should answer the question. Why would He give us commands that we are fully incapable of following?

Jesus said that lustful thoughts were adultery in your mind and that hate was like murder so if you hate and lust then you break new forms of the old commandments but these are new laws, or at least extensions of the old laws. This is what the gospel according to Matthew says:
Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to annul the law and the prophets. I have not come to annul them, but to fulfil them. 18 I tell you this: as long as heaven and earth last, not the smallest letter or dot in the law will change, until all is fulfilled. 19 So then, whoever breaks the least important of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be the least in the kingdom of heaven. On the other hand, whoever obeys them, and teaches others to do the same, will be great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 I tell you, if your sense of right and wrong is not keener than that of the Lawyers and the Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

21 You have heard, that it was said to our people in the past: Do not commit murder; anyone who murders will have to face trial. 22 But now, I tell you: whoever gets angry with a brother or sister will have to face trial. Whoever insults a brother or sister is liable, to be brought before the council. Whoever calls a brother or sister “Fool!” is liable, of being thrown into the fire of hell. 23 So, if you are about to offer your gift at the altar, and you remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there, in front of the altar; go at once, and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God. 25 Don’t forget this: be reconciled with your opponent quickly when you are together on the way to court. Otherwise he will turn you over to the judge, who will hand you over to the police, who will put you in jail. 26 There, you will stay, until you have paid the last penny.

27 You have heard that it was said: Do not commit adultery. 28 But I tell you this: anyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent, has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 So, if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose a part of your body, than to have your whole body thrown into hell. 30 If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away! It is better for you to lose a part of your body, than to have your whole body thrown into hell.

I do agree with the above.
The Sabbath commandment has always confused me, however.
It IS one of the 10 commandments which God specifically gave to us who believe in God, but it's a ceremonial law and the ceremonial law has been abolished...
