So the Holy Spirit left me? I find that hard to accept? I received the Spirit at 21 y/o.
If a sin is forgiven surly that means your sins are wiped away with the blood of Jesus. So can you can try again if you're absolved from your previous marriage (forgiven)? A relationship with the opposite sex is not evil, in the beginning.
E.g. IF I get drunk should I never touch alcohol again, not even for the stomach?
The marriage was drunk.
Here, we are stepping into territory that has to do with eternal security, etc. A different topic of discussion.
I am of the persuasion that, yes, Spirit-filled believers can walk away from their relationship with God, and can become lost again. And the Holy Spirit can be so offended by sin that He withdraws himself.
The command to "be filled with the Spirit" was made to believers.
Therefore, it is for US to pursue being filled, and remaining filled.
It doesn't happen automatically.
And the warning not to grieve the Holy Ghost was also made to believers.
However, you could not come back to God unless the Holy Spirit was drawing you.
Therefore, I would venture that you had an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from God... being hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:12-13
But it was by His grace that He drew you back to Himself.
He didn't throw you away completely, but gave you a second chance.
God loves to give second chances.
