  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

About downloading, besides the fact that the bands don't get the money the largest problem in the long run will be with the record companies and lable's. Most people think big deal, but if they have less money they can take on less bands, and the bands they do take will have to meet stricter and stricter criterea, so less bands will be able to put out cd's and the type of music that comes out will be smaller and smaller, and smaller lables will die off because they don't get enough income thus can't support the underground anymore etc. Think a bit broader than only the bands not getting any money, if lables don't get enough money bands will no longer be able to keep making music.

Don't know if anyone said this. Too many posts to read....

A copyright simply means that no one can reproduce your music and call it their own and mak e a profit off of it. It does not mean that I can't buy a friend a CD for his birthday. Or even in a broader spectrum, it doesn't mean that I can't buy a CD, put the music on my computer and then share it with the whole world. It simply means that I cannot say that I am the one who originally created this music.

Not that I am for or against pirating, simply stating what I know about a copyright.

Musicians nowadays are becoming too worldly, selfish, not realizing that their talent
are meant to be used for free. But they also have the right to live, so if you are rich,
go buy their album, but if you're not rich like me, I don't think it would be stealing
at all. I got a free song on my site that I recorded and wrote, it makes me happy when
people listen to it.
