  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This post has nothing to do with this thread.

it's an apt comparision to some of the lack of erudition shown here.

o one cares what happened in your 10th grade social studies class.

Attempts to speak for the group is nothing but bullying, to which this individual stands unbossed. If you lack the insight to understand the comparison you do your position no favors by saying so.

Here's my take, for it's worth. Sin can happen in a relationship (sexually) one of two ways. The first way is the most obvious, and that is a sexual act that is sinful. In this case, they Bible only expressly forbids intercourse. The second way that sin enters in is by glorifying your partner or your relationship above God. That's where the grey area comes in. If God is not glorified in it, then I wouldn't recommend it. Anything that brings you closer to the opportunity to commit a sinful act is not glorifying God, and that is why I think it is important to maintain strong boundaries that keep you far from the line, rather than going right up to the line before you stop. Additionally, in my experience, in a long-term relationship, there WILL be times when you cross the boundary that you have set for your relationship. So the question is, can you cross your boundaries without doing anything you will regret? That is why my wife and I set the boundary at kissing before we were married. It was hard, but it was well worth it. I have no doubt in my mind that we would not have made it to our wedding night otherwise.

For me its like...You have already gone through disney world, rode all the rides, do all that extra special stuff there, then suddenly a bunch of people are advising you not to go through the gates because its not good for. It will tarnish your fun and effect your life in ways you will regret even though you have already ridden all the riddes and had all the fun and it hasnt effected you the way they say it is and will.

Having said that it doesnt mean i wanna sleep with every partner I ever have, I think its more about boundreis, and it feels reall yridiculous and overkill for someone who has been all th way a few times to suddenly go KISSING ONLY.

I do think the reason they emphaisised non makey outey ness was to resist deflowering virgins before marriage. Too bad if your not a virgin eh...

Attention please

Can everyone do me a favour? If your post is related to the OP please at the beginning put OP RELATED, if it is not related to the OP please put at the beginning NOT OP RELATED as this will help when im trying to figure out which posts are topic related. Not fun trying to scroll through 3 pages of rants to find something relevant.

They're not mine. Maybe you are not American and are thus unaware of extremist groups organizing in churches as they do here. Is that it?
And again we can't see in the mirror -
I'll remind you that YOU are of an "extremist group" TL.
seeking to threaten the sanctity of the traditional family & marital unit
& force sexual immorality down the entire Countries throat.

Traditional marriage & family units HAVE BEEN THE STATUS QUO for
decades & centuries of history in most all nations...
it's YOU that are the extremist group  coming to tear down the traditional & moral fabric of the nation.
Don't you get it??????
Dear Lord, wake up TL.

You just can't step outside that little box to see that YOU are doing what
you claim to hate in others.

This is SO typical & rampant in liberalism

I am American, born here, 2nd Generation. The only term I've really heard is "the Bible belt". I don't pigeon hole people with lables because people are multifaceted.

And I'm non-denominational also to avoid "labels" because labels are of no importance as far as the body of Christ.

I think it's important that your level of physical intimacy reflect your level of emotional intimacy and commitment. When you do something physical with your partner it should communicate something about how your are feeling about them, it should not be just for fun. Sex then communicates that you are completely in love with someone and want to spend the rest of your life with them forsaking all others.

It's not bullying, but call it whatever you need to in order to paint yourself as the victim. My statement is a statement of opinion. Am I not allowed to express those here? Oh wait! You're not a mod, so you can't tell me what I can and can't say. HA! And as far as speaking for the group, you do it all the time in regards to what the homosexuals feel, so I'll just add employing a double-standard to your misuse of the word "Fundamentalist". But back to your your irrelevant experience in 10th grade. If you did a poll to find out who in this thread cares about what happened to YOU in the 10th grade, you'd probably be the only one who voted "I care". So not only is it off topic it is also of no interest to me or probably anyone else. And to quote you "if you don't like it, tough."

I'm comfortable with my use of the term as was done. If you are not saying so will not mask your lack of an argument.

I was trying to help you understand that you were in error with your use of the word Fundamentalist, so where's the argument? Is it possible for you to have a conversation with someone without there being an argument? I guess not based upon what you've written here and you're the one who has dodged my questions to you, so if anyone is lacking anything around here it's you. You don't bother to answer the questions I have asked you and then try and turn it around on me and make me look like the one who is ill-prepared. So sad. But such is the life of TexasLynn the Fundamentalist. ^_^

I am American, born here, 2nd Generation. The only term I've really heard is "the Bible belt". I don't pigeon hole people with lables because people are multifaceted.

"The Bible Belt" is a description of regional culture, but it is where extreme right-wing religion flourishes. If you get a chance look at a map that pinpoints those counties where McCain did better against Obama than Bush did against Kerry and it's roughly contiguous. It goes from Oklahoma to West Virginia and is concurrent with the decline of the economic vitality of those areas. I know it well, though where I grew up in the rural areas between Abilene TX and Waco TX is perhaps less so. Some mighty fine people live there but the right wingers are pretty loud and many who disagree with them are afraid to speak up. Not so much ones that are afraid people will find out they're gay or lesbian or something; the ones that are afraid people will find out they're Democrats.

And I'm non-denominational also to avoid "labels" because labels are of no importance as far as the body of Christ.

I agree about labels but non-denominational can mean many things. With a church in an established denomination you know what you're entering when you step in the door. Not so with nondenominationals. It may be a family business (is the youth pastor the senior pastor's son?) and if you ask too many questions about church finances you may be put out of church as a witch. That's what happened to a sweet Baptist lady who was a former patient of mine. Not to say yours is like that. But with a denomination there's oversight.

You can say whatever you want as long as TPTB let you. I see what you mean about speaking for LGBTs as a group. I can't speak for the 'Tarian kind like Norah Vincent and Andrew Sullivan.

I think the important thing is what you do at the beginning of a relationship is what forms its base. When you put off the physical part it causes you to really make a connection in a more personal way. You actually get to know - really know the person before giving yourself away. Your soul is a precious commodity and God wants to keep it intact.

Remember the parable of the wise and foolish builders? The foolish man builds his house on the sand and when the storm hits (times get tough) the house falls.

Add to that God wants you to wait until marriage, and remember we were all purchased at a great price.

That's just wrong. Militantism (is that a word) in any form is not right.

Interesting story afterward about Meg Witman going to run for Governor of California. Cool. I've always admired her. She is amazing, no doubt about that.

Ah, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence-a performance art project. It looks like no one was hurt in their action. It doesn't look like anyone was "harrassed" either.

Apples and oranges, as usual.

BTW, the epithet "trannies" is considered a slur.

Well, the Priests looked confused. That's hurtful. You can't peacefully protest in someone's church. That's just wrong!
