Since you can’t stand for long, exercises in the pool might be a good workout.

Weight lifting type exercises is good also. Start with dumbbells.

I would recommend cutting sugar and carbs. No more bread and smaller portions. Good luck

Ok got it. When I was considering the surgery they were going to have me do exercises in a pool actually. I wonder if since I'm still pre surgery if they would let me see the physical therapist and u start doing that anyway. That should probably help.

We have an aldis in the town that I live in but I find their fruit to be very low quality and the only other grocery stores we have are price chopper and Walmart which are pretty expensive fruit wise. So I tend not to buy fruits. I try to buy frozen fruit instead which aldis has better quality of rather than their fresh fruit.

And to be completely honest I'm just not a vegetable person. I don't like vegetables I've tried them all and the only ones I like are sweet potatoes, potatoes, and corn. So... kind of limited options there. So I try to choke down peas and green beans and other vegetables every now and then but honestly they're disgusting.

Then there's rice. Yum. But I like white rice I can't STAND the taste of brown rice. It tastes nasty. I've tried getting my wife to cook it several ways, I've tried choking it down, it's just nasty tasting. My nutritionist at the bariatric clinic has given in and let me eat white rice but she would rather I eat the brown stuff because of the fiber in it. But it is just so... nasty. I don't mind whole wheat pasta every once in a while but brown rice is just... blegh.

But yeah I love the taste of virtually every fruit, yogurt, legume, and other healthy product just can't stand vegetables and brown rice. My wife and I are poor too but we can afford a $400 a month food budget for sure. Maybe $500. So we might be a little bit better than usual between the two of us. That pays for some of the healthy foods we buy and the inflated prices in New York.

White rice can be healthier if you eat it after it has been in the fridge overnight (you can reheat it on the microwave). Fridge time lowers the glycemic index of white rice. Lower is better for losing weight.

I can't stand brown rice as well....Because it's over twice as expensive where I live and rice is a significant portion of my calorie source and I only live on $30 food budget/month.

If you need more fiber and don't like brown rice, vegetables, etc, whole bread is a good option and you can eat it immediately after a meal. As weight loss strategy, you can reduce meal portion sizes, eat them slowly, and if you're still hungry after the meal, immediately follow it up with whole bread.

Eating slow gives time for hunger hormones to be suppressed while eating to avoid over-eating. If you eat fast, you'd have eaten more before the hunger hormones are suppressed.

I just for some reason can't stand the taste of it. like i said i don't mind whole wheat pasta every once in a while so idk what it is about brown rice but it's just nasty tasting to me. I will choke it down every once in a while because my wife likes it and I like treating her from time to time but it really is some nasty stuff to me.

It's not just because it's healthy because whole wheat pasta is a lot healthier for you too and I like that. I also LOVE spinach and that's very healthy for you probably one of the healthiest things out there for you and i eat a bag of it in like a week. love the stuff and eat it on everything like ketchup. Its a good thing Spinach is only like $2.50 a bag lol.

Oh. I don't like the taste of whole grain bread either. I've tried really hard to like it because I eat out at subway a lot and it would be a lot healthier If I got my roast beef subs on whole grain bread instead ofItalian but the bread is just very vile to me i just cannot eat it. I don't mind wheat bread but doctors say you might as well be eating white bread if you eat wheat bread because it doesn't have the whole grains in it. Which exists in the pasta that I like so it's not the whole grains that I don't like. I really don't know whst about whole grain bread really makes me sick to my stomach. I wish i did so i could try whole grain bread without the stuff that I don't like you know?

I think I get my fiber from Spinach not sure if that has a lot or not. But with the amount of spinach I eat I'm sure I get a lot of fiber from it.

If you're able to eat whole wheat pasta and spinach, you can stick with it.

Just make either of them part of every meal. High fiber food helps reduce appetite if you eat them last. If you take dessert for last, make sure it's high fiber and low sugar.

And to repeat, white rice is healthier if it has spent the night in the fridge. Just reheat the rice in the microwave if you like it eat it hot.

I was never a fan of brown rice either, I adjusted the cooking method and found it tasty. Must pre-soak it overnight or 6 hours prior to cooking, use more water ratio than white rice when cooking and add chicken stock or bouillon when cooking the rice.

If I try to cook brown rice like white rice, it’s inedible to me.

I'll eat whole wheat pasta from time to time I don't eat it all the time it's edible but does get boring after a while and ill admit that i switch to white pasta when i get sick of whole wheat. My nutritionist says that this is okay as long as im still eating whole wheat pasta. Spinach on the other hand is good to me yeah. Love the stuff and I eat it like ketchup.

Well I lost 2 more pounds. I'm down to 418 now. I'm still slowly losing weight. So what I've been doing is working I've lost 2 extra pounds in 3 weeks. Slow going but at least I'm not gaining.

I'll have to try that. My wife makes a dish with chicken, black beans, rice, diced tomatoes, a spice mix that is mostly paprika and salt, chopped onion, and mozzarella and cheddar cheese. My nutritionist says it's pretty healthy and I like it with white rice and can't stand it when she makes it with brown but my nutritionist tries to recommend I eat it with brown so I try choking it down every once in a while. Plus my wife likes it better with brown so I try making her happy too. You know? Anyway, it's really good and that's mostly how I like rice. I've never tried it cooked otherwise maybe I'd like it cooked a different way.

That's good to hear about the spinach. I think white pasta is also OK after it has spent time in the fridge.

Ugh, this does not sound healthy at all. Wheat is the most common source of various allergens (gluten being just one of them) and spinach is an oxalate bomb.

Pasta as such is also absolutely NO for diabetics and obese people. Its just starches and sugars. You need to keep your insulin and blood sugar low.

Actually my sugar is good right now. In the past about 20 years ago it was borderline high but I got it under control. What do you mean spinach isn't good for you? Never heard that one before. My doctor is telling me it's a great thing I at the very least eat spinach because it's a green super food packed with vitamin k which if I was still on warfarin would be bad but I'm on eliquis now and can freely eat lots of vitamin k and it not matter.

Spinach is fine. I used to eat raw wild plants with much higher oxalates than spinach. So much oxalate, it caused stinging pain and swelling on contact with mouth parts. I became fully immune to the toxin within one week and the plant tasted good from then on.

Spinach never gave me such issues no matter how it is prepared.

But I never eaten large quantities of spinach so I have no idea if eating large portions of spinach can cause problems. Ironically fruits caused my urine to smell strongly of burned electronic circuit board if eating large quantities of fruits. Small quantities of fruits don't cause any problems however.

Its very high in oxalates and people can even die from it if they for example drink raw spinach smoothies.

Regarding any possible vitamins, they get destroyed if you eat spinach cooked.
