What was the last fun thing you did with your family?

Last night my grandson, Luke, spent the night (his mom and brother have been sick so we were giving them a break). Anyhow - he's always a hoot to have around. He was playing hockey in the basement, I became his "coach" and was having to give between period pep talks and end of game summaries. Then we baked chocolate chip cookies with his Aunt Hannah (or Hantie as she's affectionately known). Finally - "The Princess Bride" as everyone was settling down for the night (we camp out on the den floor). We all fell asleep before the movie ended.

What's going on?

well, obviously right now I'm here, but in general. . . .

I'm getting mentally ready for influenza season at work. Also at work we're at the beginning of a 2 1/2 month process of updating our operating system (and I'm a little nervous about it).

At home - it's hockey season so I'm going to lots of my son's games (he's the coach instead of a player now, but it's still stressful for me. I get to listen to all the parents complain about the coaching:mad: oh well). Hannah just started her winter/spring semester of college so I'm once again resigned to never seeing her. I'm knitting sweaters for the grandboys (Luke in particular since he asked for them, but will make some for Logan too). Since I have a couple of evenings alone due to hubby's work and Hannah's school I'm spending some fun time reading. Oh, and I'm getting back into the exercise mode (I was very lazy in December).

Whew - I think I need to go rest now^_^

What would be a Valentine Gift that could bring a tear of joy to your eye?

homemade valentines by my grandkids - you know the kind with lace doilies and handprints that they tried to sign themselves.

Hi edb19:wave: I wanted to ask you the same thing you asked me. Do you like to watch the Olympics? And what is your favorite sport to watch?

Oh, and it's good to see you around - I know you have been busy with family stuff but it's good to see you here when you get time:hug:

I love the Olympics (actually, I love sports). I watch all things ice (speed skating, hockey:thumbsup:   , figure skating - yes, even curling). I also like the skiing events - especially the newer Xtreme events (snowboarding etc).

Other than Olympics - I watch hockey whenever possible (big, big Red Wing fan). I also enjoy highschool and college football.

If you could be any character from the bible for one day , who would it be? :)

Please excuse me if this is a repeat question

I don't think it's a repeat.

The answer is a piece of cake - Mary of Bethany. Two things about her have always struck me - first of all she recognized, and Jesus reinforced, that she should listen to and learn from Jesus the Christ. Secondly, she was confident enough in her relationship with the Lord to confront Him when Lazarus died. Can you imagine - saying to Jesus "what were you thinking, where were you??"

A second option - the Samaritan woman. After all, it was to her that Jesus first declared Himself the Messiah.:amen:

If your home were on fire, what's the first possession you would try to rescue?

I've been asked this before - and so far the answer hasn't changed.

I have a collection of 3 framed prints of various locomotives. They were my Granddad Miller's (who worked for train companies in one way or another for ~50 years). I think he promised them to me when I was about 4 years old (thanks to him I developed a love for trains). While I don't think they have a lot of monetary value - their personal value can't be measured. They are the one physical reminder I have of a great man who loved his grandchildren with all of his heart.

Will you be watching the Super Bowl? If so, are you watching for the game or the commercials?

I will absolutley watch - will be cheering for the Steelers. Big Ben is from my hometown - I still read their newspaper - one would think the Super Bowl is being played in Findlay, Ohio:thumbsup::clap:

Oh, and I'll definitely be watching for the game. I rarely watch commercials. When people I know discuss this commercial or that commercial I almost never know what they're talking about.

What habits good/bad do you still have, that you picked up in you 20's that would now be considered RETRO?

It's tempting to say good manners. I encounter a lot of late teens/early 20's and they're always so sullen. Even in my 20's, my parents would have chastised me if I exhibited some of the behavior I see in young adults that age range.

Gosh, this one's tough. I'm going to have to think more. Unless, of course, my first thought is sufficient.
