If you could live anywhere on Earth besides where you currently live, where would you like to live?

Asheville, North Carolina:thumbsup:
Beautiful mountains
less than 1/2 day drive to the ocean
milder winters
if it gets too hot in the summer - drive up into the mountains and it's cooler
Southern hospitality - which I find to be a very real thing

(seriously - if I thought I could take my church with me, I'd move in a heartbeat)

Do you ask everyone a question in the Face the Board forum, or do you skip some people?

When I've posted questions, for the most part I think I ask everyone essentially the same question. Some of the newer members I didn't go back and ask my "old" questions.

Sometimes I have followup questions (or answers) - those don't go to everyone.

If you could create a perfect pet with parts from all your favorite animals, and you are able to leav out all the stuff you dont like, what new animal would you create??

a dog that doesn't shed or make my husband wheeze - then I could have one.

The Bible tells us that faith, without works, is dead. James 2:17,20, 26...What charitable works do you do to keep your Christian faith alive?

First, not enough. However - I do support multiple charities financially, I take part in my church's mercy ministries (crib ministry, meals, school bags, help for the battered women's shelter, "good news grills), I volunteer at my church as secretary/treasurer. The one that is near and dear to my heart, but I haven't done yet (maybe when Hannah's done with school and I can cut back my work hours) is to volunteer at the Crisis Pregnancy Center - specifically to help with post abortion counseling. I believe that post abortion stress syndrome is a very real thing and most doen't want to even acknowledge that it exists.

Not sure if this counts, but we really help my son and daughter-in-law. They've had some very tough times, we help with bills, housing, groceries, transportation as well as with child care. Just about 3 months ago Sam got a job that has benefits, a decent income, chance for advancement, job security -(this is me doing the happy dance)! That will at least free up some income so that I can increase my charitable giving.

Do you like pastrami sandwiches?

Yep - on rye or pumpernickel, with some honey mustard, a slice of red onion and since I'm not kosher - a slice of havarti cheese. Oh, and Tony Packo's sweet and hots on the side.

Are you nervous about turning 50?

Not at all (unless of course I have to leave the fab 40's).

My kids make fun of me every year I start upping my age in January (my birthday is in June). I always say that it takes me 6 months to get used to the idea, but that isn't really true - its just easier to count.

The part of getting older that I don't like is the fact that my children and grandchildren are growing so fast - I'm expecting that my daughter will be moving in the next year or two and then we'll be alone at home. That saddens me.

Are you the kind of Grandparent who "takes over" and raises the Grans or is it MOM & DAD said thus and such and that's what we do, or otherwise when it comes to activities and discipline?

Since my mother-in-law would overrule me in front of my kids:mad: and never once told my kids no about anything:mad:  , for the most part I check with my son and daughter-in-law first. Luke will try - if mom tells him no about something he'll come to me - I always ask "What did your mommy say?" There are some things where I say yes - but emphasize that we have to get parental approval and times. For example - when Luke and I saw "March of the Penguins" there was a trailer for "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe." Luke thought it looked very exciting and asked if I would take him to see it. I said yes - but that we had to check with his parents first for permission. We're all going on Sunday.

If you were to write one book, what would it be about?

Oh, this question is getting me right where I live (and dream) - my pastor frequently tells me I should write.

So many choices - some options:
food/entertainment
science fiction
politics (I'd be good at this one)
maybe a collection of works (for example a book I recently read about C.S. Lewis - it was a collection of writings that influenced him).

What are your goals for 2006?

I have a few -

1. To be more effective at work (without letting it make me crazy).

2. To improve on my personal Bible study/devotional time.

3. To improve my physical well being (dedicated exercise time and hopefully some resulting weight loss).
