It presumes an understanding, though, that a court is a political body.
It is not. Or at least, it should NOT be. Citizens should NOT think of a court as a political body and, just as importantly, the court should not ACT as a political body. Given how it was treated by Republican leaders since McConnell/Obama, I think right wingers could be excused for believing the court IS something that can be manipulated via politics.
