Rather than establish legalistic standards of hair length, we must remember that the real issue is our heart condition, our individual response to the authority of God, His ordained order, and our choice to walk in submission to that authority. Men and women have different, God-ordained roles, and part of that difference is shown by their hair. A man’s hair should look masculine. A woman’s hair should look feminine.I need help.
Its just concerning to me because I obviously don't want to sin. Ive talked to someone who has a PHD in new testament studies, and he said (like what others here have said) that it is widely accepted that it was a cultural command. But im not fully convinced. Ive prayed about it a stupid number of times and havent heard anything yet.Rather than establish legalistic standards of hair length, we must remember that the real issue is our heart condition, our individual response to the authority of God, His ordained order, and our choice to walk in submission to that authority. If you are being mistaken as to your sexual identification (male/female) by others because of your hair length although it would be wise perhaps to cut your hair.
How does one describe the verse then? It seems to pretty strongly condemn men with long hair...Have your hair however you want. Hair isn't a moral issue.
But some people like to moralize meaningless things, because it's much easier to be self-righteous if you ignore matters of actual righteousness and focus on the things that don't matter. Just look at the Pharisees in the Gospels.

well ... my approach to things is ... if something is being brought to my mind and I'm doing something I wonder about (don't know if appropriate or not) .. then I go to the Lord and ask Him to help me quit doing whatever that is.Its just concerning to me because I obviously don't want to sin. Simply cut your hair short and stop this OCD/anxiety trouble you obviously suffer with. No hair style is worth the worsening of mental problems. How does one describe the verse then? It seems to pretty strongly condemn men with long hair...
It is condemning men who ornament their hair like women. How does one describe the verse then? It seems to pretty strongly condemn men with long hair...
If you believe it is a sin, then don't do it. I don't believe it is, but we can't live our lives based on other people's ideas.I need help.
Ok so if I have long hair but like Jason mamoa for example. That's ok? Cause that man has more testosterone in his left foot then I have in my whole body XDIt is condemning men who ornament their hair like women.
I suffer from anxiety and OCD so yeah I do. lolIf you believe it is a sin, then don't do it. I don't believe it is, but we can't live our lives based on other people's ideas.
You asked for advice before, yet you are still anxious; why is that? Are you waiting for someone to tell you what to do?
You may need help with more than the issue of your hair length.
But my treatment...namely erp requires for me to go against my anxiety. Do what it tells me not to.Simply cut your hair short and stop this OCD/anxiety trouble you obviously suffer with. No hair style is worth the worsening of mental problems.
Because you suffer from mental problems, no rational commentary about the verse, its cultural background etc will calm you down. This is not how mental problems go away and we both know it. Logical arguments can not heal a malfunctioning brain (proper nutrition, sleep etc can).
After you will solve your mental problems, you can think about growing your hair long, again, if you will still want to.
I DONT want to cut my hair. Ive wanted long hair since I was 4 and was always annoyed that I wasn't allowed to grow it out since "I was a boy". But as stated. I will cut it if it is against God. Which the consensus seems to be it ISNT which is good!If you think it’s sin and don’t want to sin then cut your hair. You have the power to determine if it’s wrong. Follow your conscience. But maybe you don’t want to cut your hair…!
