Interesting that your avatar is a lion; with which the Bible has sometimes been compared. "Defend the Bible? it's like trying to defend a lion..."" :)
Yes and more and more these days it seems the case defending the Bible and its inerrancy, sadly even with some Christians.
But it stands for itself really doesn't it?
PS my avatar means so many things to me
the Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God: infinite strength and infinite gentleness
Defending and sacrifice and it goes on.

Could you post a couple examples where the NKJV leaves out verses or parts of verses that promote Christ as God? Thank you.

Actually, as of about 12 years ago, the NIV passed the KJV as the most used English translation of the bible. :)

Here is a comparison, from The best Bible comparison web site.

John 1:14

KJV – “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

NIV – “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Vines – the phrase ‘the only begotten of the Father‘ indicates that as the Son of God, He is the sole representative of the Being and character of the One who sent Him. ‘the only begotten’ when used of the Son, is in the sense of unoriginated relationship. The begetting is not an event of time, however remote, but a fact irrespective of time. The Christ did not become, but necessarily and eternally is the Son. He, a Person, possesses every attribute of the pure Godhood.

John 1:18

KJV – “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

NIV – “No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.”

Vines – the clause ‘the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Fatherexpresses both His eternal union with the Father in the Godhead and the ineffable intimacy and love between them, the Son sharing all the Father’s counsels and enjoying all His affections.

John 3:16

KJV – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

NIV – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Vines – the statement ‘God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son‘ must not be taken to mean that Christ became the only begotten son by incarnation. The value and the greatness of the gift lay in the Sonship of Him who was given. His Sonship was not the effect of His being given.

John 3:18

KJV – “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

NIV – “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

Vines -the phrase ‘the name of the only begotten Son of God‘ lays stress upon the full revelation of God’s character and will, His love and grace, as conveyed in the name of One who, being in a unique relationship to Him, was provided by Him as the object of faith.

1 John 4:9

KJV – “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” (Notice how He was sent into the world from eternity as the only begotten Son of God)

NIV – “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”

Vines – the statement ‘God sent his only begotten Son into the world‘ does not mean that God sent out into the world one who at His birth in Bethlehem had become His Son.

What does “One and Only” mean? One and only what?

The Lord Jesus is not God’s only Son: this is false as God has many sons. He is God’s only begotten Son and thus unique. It is obvious that the modern translations have tampered with the very foundation of Christianity.

Using the NIV, you cannot even prove that the Lord Jesus is the only begotten Son of God! Therefore, the NIV fails to substantiate the very foundation of the faith.

The NIV and most modern translations are leading people away from the foundation of the faith!

It is a subtle but diabolic shift away from historic Christianity towards a generic Jesus that can fit in nicely with other beliefs.

The modern versions have to be rejected as they are deficient and lack the ability to even prove the very foundation of the faith. They are illegitimate and are leading believers away from the true person of the Lord Jesus.

If you use the NIV, then you DON’T have the only begotten son of God.

KJV vs NIV: The NIV removes the name of Jesus 38 times
Here’s some examples:

In Acts 8:37, the NIV removed the entire verse where the Ethiopian Eunich professed his faith in Jesus Christ.

KJV – “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

NIV –

In 1 Corinthians 16:22, they removed the name of ‘Jesus Christ’

KJV – “If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.”

NIV – “If anyone does not love the Lord – a curse be on him. Come, O Lord

In 2 Corinthians 5:18, it removed the name of ‘Jesus’

There are many Christ’s, but we are reconciled by Jesus Christ.

KJ – “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation

NIV – “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

In Galations 4:7, they removed that we are heirs of God ‘through Christ’

KJV – “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

NIV – “So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.”

In Galations 6:15, they removed that it is ‘Christ Jesus’ who circumcises our heart

KJV – “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.”

NIV – “Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation.”

In Ephesians 3:9, they removed Jesus as the creator, which makes Jesus eternal and equal to God.

The NIV removes Jesus from the verse and only says that ‘God created all things’, which removes a proof-text that Jesus is God.

KJV – “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.”

NIV – “and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.”

In Phillipians 4:13, they removed the source of our power, ‘Christ’

KJV – “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

NIV – “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

In Revelation 1:11, they removed Jesus title of ‘Alpha and Omega, the first and the last

KJV – “Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches

NIV – “which said: Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches

KJV vs NIV: The NIV deceives you by switching the name of Jesus and Lucifer
The KJ accurately reports that Lucifer fell from heaven and was cut down. With an unbelievable slight of hand, the NIV removed Lucifer and replaced him with ‘Morning Star’.

Isaiah 14:12 KJV says “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Isaiah 14:12 NIV says “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

But Jesus is the Morning Star

Revelation 22:16 KJ says “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”

This either gives Lucifer the title of the Morning Star, which belongs to the Lord Jesus.

Or it inserts Jesus as the person who fell from heaven and was cut down to the ground.

Whether it elevates Lucifer or denigrates the Lord Jesus, it is wrong and you should reject the NIV and the modern translations which deceive you about Lucifer.

KJV vs NIV: The NIV removes the Holy Trinity and your assurance of eternal life in Jesus
1 John 5:7 is probably one of the most controversial verses in the Bible. The reason is that all the modern translations, except the New King James, remove this verse.

Here’s a hint why: Lucifer doesn’t want to confirm the Holy Trinity, or that we have eternal life in the Jesus.

Jesus states Lucifer’s goal in regard to His Word in Luke 8:12 “…then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.”

In 1 John 5:7-8 the NIV removed the ‘Father, Word(Jesus) and Holy Ghost: and these three are one‘ from the passage, thereby removing proof of the Holy trinity.

KJV – “ For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”

NIV- “For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

In 1 John 5:10, God strongly states that anyone who does not believe the record that He gave of His Son in verse 7, makes God a liar. “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. ”

In 1 John 5:11, God clearly confirms the ‘record’ of what He stated in verse 7, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”

If verse 7 is removed, then the record of agreement by the Godhead in heaven is also removed! Verse 7 is not a mere proof of the Trinity, it is really a proof that believers have total assurance of eternal life, when they are in the Son of God! God bears record in heaven that we have eternal life!

How dare these modern translations tamper with 1 John 5:7, as they tamper with the actual record in heaven that I have eternal life through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is probably the strongest verse in all the Bible for the assurance of eternal life in the Blessed Redeemer.

KJV vs NIV: The NIV removed several parts of The Lord’s Prayer
In the Luke’s recording of ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ in Luke 11:2, these passages have been removed in the NIV:

– ‘which art in heaven’ (They don’t want you to believe that there’s a heaven)
– ‘Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth’
– ‘but deliver us from evil’ (they don’t want you to pray against evil, because Lucifer is evil)

Luke 11:2 KJV – “And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.”

Luke 11:2 NIV – “He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.”

In Matthews recording of The Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13, they also removed:

– ‘Our father’
– ‘For thing is the power and the glory, forever, amen’

The NIV butchered ‘The Lord’s Prayer’. Do you still want to read it?

KJV vs NIV: The NIV implies that Joseph is the biological father of Jesus
In Luke 2:43, the KJ shows that Joseph is not Jesus biological father when it says “Joseph and his(Jesus) mother”, which is peculiar and implies a separation. The NIV says “his parents”, which implies that Joseph is his father.

KJV “And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.”

NIV “After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it.

IN Luke 2:33 the same implication is found in Luke 2:33, only this time it directly calls Joseph the father of Jesus, which removes the virgin birth.

KJV – “And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of him.”

NIV- “The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him.”

KJV vs NIV: The NIV removes the statement that God was manifest in the flesh in Jesus
1 Timothy 3:16 links God to all the things that Jesus accomplished on Earth, thereby equating Jesus with God in the flesh. We all appear in a body, so there’s nothing great about that. But God manifesting Himself in the flesh, that’s supernatural.

KJV- “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory

NIV – “Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory

KJV vs NIV: The NIV removes that Jesus was worthy to be worshiped
Worshiping someone means they are worthy of the worship. Kneeling before someone does not imply the same thing.

In Matthew 8:2 the leper worshiped Jesus

KJV – “And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

NIV – “A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

In Matt 9:18 a Ruler came and worshiped Jesus

KJV- “While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

NIV – “While he was saying this, a ruler came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.”

In Matthew 15:25 a Gentile woman from Canaan worshiped Jesus

KJV – “Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.”

NIV – “The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.”

IN Matthew 20:20 the mother of the disciples John and James worshiped Jesus.

KJV – “Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshiping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.”

NIV – “Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him.”

In Mark 5:6 even the Demon-possessed man in Gadarenes worshiped Jesus even before the demons were cast out of him.

KJV – “But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him.”

NIV – “When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.”

KJV vs NIV: The NIV removes the proof-text that Jesus is God
Verses like 1 John 3:16 show that Jesus is God. When a verse references God and then says ‘he’ (indicating Jesus), it confirms that Jesus is God. But when it is changed to just say Jesus, it removes the proof-text that he is God.

KJV – “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. “

NIV – “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”

KJV vs NIV: The NIV took away judgment from Jesus
In Romans 14:10 the NIV verse removes another proof-text that Jesus is God, and that He will be our judge.

KJV – “But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.“

NIV – “You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.”

KJV vs NIV: The NIV removes Jesus as THE Great God
In Titus 2:13 ‘Our great god‘ implies that it’s true for Christians but not for all the world, as someone may believe their great god is Mohammed. But ‘the great God‘ implies that Jesus is THE one and only.

Whether you accept him as your Savior or not, he IS the great God.

KJV – “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ

NIV- “while we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ

Well there are a few, over 1400 because I could not put them in one post.

The NIV became more popular in sales due to life way, but it has declined.
I think it's safe to say there are far more King James Bibles in circulation today.

On the cover of most of them, the Celtic knot.
It's a pagan symbol .
Why is it found on the cover ?

Latest NIV Bible Translation Clearer on Homosexual Sins, Says Theologian
Share On Facebook Share On Twitter
By Michael Gryboski , Christian Post Reporter | Jan 4, 2012 4:47 PM

The latest version of the popular NIV Bible translation has had its verses on homosexuality reworded, making them clearer in denouncing the practice, a theologian who helped with the translation says.

These clarifications include the verse in 1 Corinthians 6:9, where the 1984 NIV version uses the phrase “homosexual offenders,” while the 2011 translation changes the phrase to "men who have sex with men."

The Committee on Bible Translation, chaired by Dr. Douglas J. Moo, who also serves as Wessner Chair of Biblical Studies at Wheaton College, released the 2011 New International Version last year.

“Debates among Christians about the teaching of the Bible on homosexuality over the last twenty years sparked considerable scholarly interest in relevant words and texts,” said Moo in an interview with The Christian Post.

“This research showed that two Greek words in this verse referred, respectively, to the passive and active participants in male homosexual activity.”

The NI V evolves in order to keep up with modern day philosophy,
And it looks like in 2011 they went overboard with many Baptist denouncing it's use.

Kinda convient for copywriters to change God's Word for the sake of ungodly
Politics.

Here is a comparison, from The best Bible comparison web site.
The only problem is that your comparison compares the KJV with the NIV. My question, found in post #100 was,
Could you post a couple examples where the NKJV leaves out verses or parts of verses that promote Christ as God? Thank you.
So far you have not responded to that question.

Too bad you took all that time to enter the KJV vs. NIV comparisons. What TCassidy asked for was (more or less) a comparison between the KJV and the NKJV. Goodness, who would want the NIV anyway!?

Btw, what is "the best Bible comparison web site"?

The Jehovah Wittness Bible.
That is the major source for the New King James.

It's all about the copyright, and it's all about a constant revised version to make the money.
But I'm not a flat earth militant King James guy, but when you consider the source of modern Bibles, then you observe the side by side comparison you begin to realize today's modern Bibles indeed attack the Divinity of Christ.

So far you have not responded to that question.

So it's the Bishops Bible now?
Seems like you made other references a few pages ago.

The Bishops Bible was a poor translation, due to the Bishop of Canterbury.
It was a flash in the pan due to the lack of supervision the good Bishop failed to give the translators.

I didn't say the KJV was archaic. I said it contains some archaic words. And it does. Without looking up the meaning or Googling them, do you know what "avouch" means? "Bruit?" "Collop?" "Durst?" Or "emerods?" How about "concupiscence," "greaves" and "wist?"

I don't have a text. I use the text God preserved for us in the extant textucopia, the Byzantine Greek New Testament text and the Ben Chayyim Hebrew Old Testament text. And, in English, I use bibles translated from those texts, the WEB, the NKJV, and the KJV.

I agree. I have no idea why they wanted to abandon the inspired word of God as found in the Bishops' Bible and replace it with the KJV which changes words, added words, and deleted words. After all, God does not change, and I really do not understand if it (the Bishops' Bible) was his inspired word and venerable for salvation, can we improve it with out changing it?

I agree again. There are over 1100 changes from the KJV of 1611 to the KJV of 1769, which most KJV readers use. So, why do you use a bible that you think the devil has changed in 1100+ places?

I posted a partial list of those changes. Did you look at the list? How do you respond to those "devilish" changes in the KJV?

In case you missed it, you can find it here: Am a King James Bible Believer

So is the inspired Word of God the Bishops Bible?
Or the Other text mentioned.
I get the impression that what you are saying is no translation is complete and infallible?

Cafeteria Christianity would be fine, as long as you were grazing in the right Word

So is the inspired Word of God the Bishops Bible?
Yes. The Bishops' Bible is a pretty good translation of the Inspired word of God. That is why the KJV translators used it as their base text to begin editing that which because the KJV.

Or the Other text mentioned.
What other text? If you will ask a specific question I will be happy to give you a specific answer.

I get the impression that what you are saying is no translation is complete and infallible?
Just the opposite. No conservative, evangelical translation of the inspired, infallible word of God is incomplete in its history, promises, or prophecy, nor contains errors of fact.

Cafeteria Christianity would be fine, as long as you were grazing in the right Word
Yes, I understand your pain. Having to choose between all the different readings found in the various KJVs is a daunting task.

And, of course, the KJV has been under copyright (Crown Patent in Perpetuity) in the UK since it was first published in 1611.

observe the side by side comparison you begin to realize today's modern Bibles indeed attack the Divinity of Christ.
Still waiting for that side by side comparison of the KJV and NKJV which you claimed attacks the Divinity of Christ? Are you ever going to back up your claim or do you now admit it was false?[/QUOTE]

God is not the author of confusion.
Yes, I know, which is why you post such nonsense. You keep spamming the forum with your copy and paste idiocy but still cannot support your false claim that the NKJV attacks the Divinity of Christ.
