We are aware of our limitations, and live within those limits.

That's programming.

You don't believe you can get over the physical limitations of the human body because you live by that programming.

Live long enough in that programming and that limitation becomes real.

Most people don't realize they live in a cage. A cage for the mind. Imprison the mind and you imprison the body as well.

I'm an engineer and an inventor.

But even in this field, the collective human programming exerts a very strong influence on the engineers and scientists themselves.

It limits their creativity to very little advances. Afraid to take big leaps. The great fear of ridicule or even losing their career. The fear of truly ground-breaking ideas. That's our programming.

We do not care about the dangers that threaten humanity as long we don't see it.....

This is a typical animal response. Human consciousness is even doubtful.

I think we are very creative in regard to flight on the individual level. We have designed all sorts of flying contraptions that allow us to "break the surly bonds of earth".

The real tragedy is that we don't take advantage of our admittedly limited choices and abilities. Most personal and social problems stem from our weaknesses, while our strengths go begging.

Many have the attitude of what can I avoid doing today, rather than what can I accomplish today.

You seem to be confusing choice with awareness. Were you aware of that?

I'm sure what self-awareness is.

Even the Bible mentions specifically that many people lack self-awareness.

Revelation 3:17
You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

The person in Revelation 3:17 lacks self awareness because he or she failed to realize they are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

One can be materially rich but spiritually poor at the same time.

We can overcome some of our limitations. We can't fly, so we build airplanes.
We are aware of our limitations, and live within those limits. Those limits also govern our choices. However, we have many choices. :)

Yet scripture tells us that we can do all things through Christ
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

so believing with your head and not with your heart creates these limitations. We believe with head and heart. We doubt with head and heart. Peter walked on the water until he began to doubt (limitations).

Then why did you prattle on about "choice" with nary a mention of self-awareness? Sloppy thinking;sloppy writing; or both.

If you lack self awareness, you'll be making the same limited choices that everyone makes.

Go to school, get a career, buy a house, get married, have kids, have hobbies, weekend routines, have grandkids, retire, and finally die.

Because you live under the same programming that everyone does.

Can we even have a civilized discussion without insulting one another?
I'm not insulting timewerx. I'm vigorously drawing his attention to logical inconsistencies in his OP. I would welcome the same critique of my posts, especially were they accurate.

Do you think it would be more beneficial for me to lie and complement him on a post that is sub-standard?

It is perfectly possible to wholly self-aware and still make those same choices. You failed to demonstrate, or even attempt to demonstrate that such was not the case.

Now, if the foregoing is true, would you not agree that you are guilty or either sloppy thinking, or sloppy writing?

As Ophiolite stated, presumably one could be self-aware and make those choices. Or, are you arguing that one who is self-aware would not go to school, work at a career, nor buy a house, get married, have kids, have hobbies, etc.? Are the only self-aware people also hermits?

You have given a picture of what not being self-aware looks like. I think it would help if you gave the contrary. What does being self-aware look like in terms of choices that are made?

OK...what do you mean by "spiritually profitable?"

Living by the commandments under the new covenant as outlined by Jesus, explained by the gospel writers, and guided by the Holy Spirit. And if done diligently one might find him or her self standing before kings.

I think we all know who HE is.

Less well known examples, are two disciples of Christ - The Beloved Disciple and Mary - they didn't make the same programmed choices as the others did.

Well known prophets of God in the Bible also are self-aware and "conscious" and some of them do live as hermits.

Vincent Van Gogh, the artist is also one.

They are far few and between.

Done properly these things make for a dream life. Sadly many do it wrong and these things become a nightmare.

Believing fully with heart and mind is being totally self aware. It takes a while to renew your mind and subsequently your heart. But understand, being a new creation means unlearning a lot of what you have learned from the old self.

Yes, we are programmed to run the rat race (pace the video you posted) and told we will be happy. I think a good many realize it's a lie, too late. They already have a family, career, a home, etc., so that now others depend on them continuing the race. One can be self-aware and know they are running a losing race. But, maybe it's also true that one can know the race is a sham, and live open hearted and generous even while they continue within the programmed paradigm. Not every hermit lives alone. ;)

If you know the truth, you will realize that worldly things are stained with the blood of the innocents. Study the "Supply Chain" and see where it starts and the mathematics of economy.

Ignorance is bliss but it's the truth that saves. Truth leads to repentance.

Even the Bible says we should not love anything in this world (1 John 2:15-17)

Because the world and its works are evil (John 7:7)

Facts, hard evidence, and science supplies proof of the reality of those teachings.

MOST people will hate to acknowledge this because of their programming.
