The point is that specifying an infinite series of events implies that every event has an infinite number of preceding events, so you can't argue that any particular event can't have happened yet without contradicting your premise.No, in that case there is no start. It's an infinite sequence of events, and should therefore include an infinite subset of events that don't operate under our current understanding of spacetime.
OTOH you could simply assert that an infinite series of events is not possible; but arguing that some event would not have happened yet begs the question, and, by extension, argues that no events could have happened.
