I find the whole thing slightly hypocritical myself, don't worry.

I think homosexuality is something that people can point at and say, what they are doing is a sin. Therefore it's a good method of making themselves look holier by casting aspersions on others. I think there is even a scripture in the New Testament that talks of such behaviour. If homosexuality was an invisible sin, like some ot the others, then it would not rate a mention. We don't hear calls to have pastors who touch removed from their positions (not that I share conservative values on masturbation, but you get the idea). If its out of sight, its off the radar. I think there is even an element of fear that it might be contagious.

Others have genuine concerns based on their convictions of course, and its pretty hard to get around that.

I would hope that one day people could just accept others with open arms despite the sin and in particular the more visible sins (or perceived sins, depending on your belief on the matter)

Why isn't "thou shalt not have homosexual relations" in the group of 10 commandments? It seems that being put in this list makes a restriction more important. Though, it seems to have been less important to God to include than "thou shalt not lie". Why is homosexuality emphasized now-a-days more than lying?

The penalties for transgressing the various laws given in Leviticus differed.

Leviticus 20:13 says that men who lay together must be put to death. People who turned to mediums and spiritist were to be cut off from their people.

Leviticus 21:5 specifically points out that "preist" must not shave their heads or clip the edges of their beards.

I could be wrong, but I think that it is safe to conclude that men who shaved their heads or clipped the edges of their beards were denied preisthood and perhaps also cut off from their people.

If you love "your neighbor", would you do things that would willfully harm him physically and spiritually? Would you willfully inject disease and pestulance into his body in areas that are not designed to cope with it, tearing and destroying tissues and causing irreparable damage? Would you willfully reduce his average lifespan? Would you cause him to live in a lifestyle that God refers to as an "abomination"? Knowing God's position on the issue, would you continue to do it anyway, in selfish self-satisfaction, affectively placing yourself and your desires above God's, thereby making those desires your god?

The topic comes up frequently in Christian forums because it has been thrust into the forefront of our minds by progressive liberals that will not tolerate being told that the lifestyle that they have accepted is un-Biblical and unhealthy.

I have two relatives and a close friend that are "gay". One has AIDS and is dying. The other two are dealing with advanced forms of HIV. All three know where the infections came from. All three have refused to change their lifestyle taking a "I'm dying anyway, so why bother now" attitude.

My heart cries out to all of them because of their pain, discomfort and fear as well as the pressure they have put their families. It's just sad.

That is a very negative and presumptuous attitude towards those who open "these" threads. Could it be because some Christians understand it is time to stop castigating and categorizing "Gays" into this lynch mob leper colony mentality. Maybe people open these threads because they are sincerely seeking Christ.

Maybe you don't realize it, but Jesus was considered a "progressive liberal" in His earthly time; that is one of the reasons why He was crucified. Where did Jesus say we must force our hetero standards of living into the bedrooms of other people? It seems He was quite opposite. To love our neighbor is to understand they have the right to participate in whatever activies they choose to with other consenting adults.

Maybe people judge gays so harshly 'cause it is easier to place them between ourselves and the Mirror of our own Mire, than to realize we ALL have much work to do. The best way to do it is to understand we are all in this together, and our ONLY purpose is to die to self and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

There is an almost unnoticed projected irony in saying that people start these threads just so they can 'scream' how 'hateful' Christians are. What source is there to verify that gays engage in backdoor sex "far, far more" than heteros. I don't think that's true, and I've been hetero my whole life. Many people don't realize there are many gay couples that don't have backdoor sex. The myth that all gays do that is simply heteros extrapolatating what they would do.

It is extremely disturbing to me when people say that sex for women involves much more emotion than for men. I am a straight man, and I have had my time in the dating pool, so I did 'play the part,' but all along I knew I was missing something, but was too afraid to go against the social norm. That something that was "missing" was that I needed to really "make love" and not just use the euphemism as a cheap way of assuaging my own deep seeded guilt at being aware of how I had betrayed myself.

Men and women are both human, with the same needs. To state there is a difference is to state we are different by species. Women do not need more "persuading," they are simply set up as the "gatekeepers." If a hetero man is highly sexual active with many partners he is a "Stud."
