  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How many have actually read The Great Controversy or The Desire of Ages...

This isn't about Papal infallibility. It's about hate. It also has zip to do with evolution, or your perceived European bible dissing. It's Muslims (ignorant one's at that), killing Christians because they refuse to convert to a Prophet led movement.
I call them ignorant for a reason. They don't even understand their own faith. They blew up the tomb of Jonah because it was too Christian and too Jewish. I guess they forgot they believe in the story of Jonah too.:doh:
Sorry guy, not everything is the See of Rome's fault.

And according to the Independant newspaper out of the UK, ISIS is also targetting Shia Muslims with the Arabic letter R so yes, ignorant muslims indeed

Well, it was quite a blow; I'd come to think of the vast Jesuit conspiracy as the answer to everything! Now I'm told that is might not be!!! Can you imagine how deflating that is for me, the secret Superior General of the inner circle of the Jesuit Conspiracy.

"Dark ages"? What are those and when did they happen?

I find it surprising that some people do not know about that.

There are others who claim they don't believe the Holocaust ever existed.

To each his own.

For the rest -- "deny all" is not the solution to every problem

The extermination of heretics by members of Islam in Syria and Iraq is every bit the bad thing that the world sees it as. Matters not if such exterminations are declared to be infallible by their magisterium.

We can be thankful that the dark ages are over for Christianity and pray that Islam also chooses to leave them behind someday soon.

We can be thankful that Miriam was freed from Sudan.

The Catholic church could really help the members of Islam on this one. They could talk about their own history of infallibly calling for the extermination of heretics - and then point to the idea that today they have grown out of that and into a more civilized form of Christianity.

We can continue to pray for the deliverance of the Christians in Syria and Iraq and Sudan and other Islam controlled countries.

(And we can pray that the Christians in Europe stop declaring the Bible to be myth, false and blind-faith evolutionism to be true, accurate, trustworthy -- because Islam will thrive in that environment and Christianity will just dwindle).

I do not know but you are most certainly dodging.
You goofed and took a simple letter from the Arabic alphabet and applied some meaning to it it was not meant to represent.
So should arabs (Christians or not) not use their alphabet? I mean we use the term Saturday and we are not worshipping Saturn.
The Hebrews have the letter Nun:נ,ן
.

Ahhh yes - the letter Nun.

in Christ,

Bob

I'm no longer amazed. I see it for what it is. A deep seeded ignorance fueled by hate..

Nah. You're just not familiar with the sensitivity some sects have against idolatry and demonic symbolism. I understand why he had his initial reaction.

Was it right? No. Should he apologize? Probably. The symbol doesn't look anything like the crescent moon to me but whatever.

I understand some of you have alliances in the east but when you put up any Arabic here in the U.S. there's bound to be trouble.

If he'd only confess to killing all those heretics while in seminary and let the truth be known about the Jesuits, it would be heaven on earth and jesus wouldn't have to be bothered with that pesky Second Advent.

Let's make an examination here, a comparison if you will.

Mohammad- Granted visions and communication with God, elevates his own writings to the level of scripture his followers honor him as a prophet.

Joseph Smith- Granted visions and communication with God, elevates his own writings to the level of scripture, his followers honor him as a prophet

Ellen White- Granted visions and communications with God, elevates her own writings to the level of scripture, followers honor her as a prophet.

Does anyone else see a pattern here? Does Matt 24:11 come to mind at all?

Don't forget false teachers.......

Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon
Strong's Number G1203 matches the Greek δεσπότης (despotēs), which occurs 10 times in 10 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

Young) 2 Peter 2:
1 And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects,
and the Owner/Master/despothn <1203> who bought them denying/disowning, bringing to themselves quick destruction
[Jeremiah 14:14,15/Matt 24:11/Jude 1:4/Revelation 6:10]

Reve 6:10
And they cry out to a great voice saying "how long, the Owner/Master/despothV <1203> the Holy and True, till Thou are judging and avenging the blood of us from out of the ones dwelling upon the land?"

Vatican Takes Step to Absorb Orthodox Church

A recent document brings Catholic and Orthodox members closer to reconciliation.........................

Benedict is literally making a career out of re-acquiring Catholicism's daughter churches.
However, no matter what is on the table for discussion, one dogma will remain the same: Everybody obeys the pope.

There is nothing that would cause the Church as a whole to join with him.

Well, look. There is no sense dodging the manure piles of the history of the RCC. It really is a huge pile with a little truth shoved in around the edges in the sights of many believers. NOTHING PERSONAL RCC members. You weren't there. You didn't do it. I still think you're saved anyway...

but history inclusive of all the churchES is a history of sinners.

There is no requirement of past perfections of sinners as that obviously didn't happen.

But to say that history is holy and infallible is an open assault to the senses.

Holy and infallible is a lie based on the reality of actions. We may believe in a HOLY church but that is as a future HOPE. None of us have yet put on the righteousness of Christ other than as wishful thinking.

We are all equal opportunity sinners with an equal opportunity bloody and sinning history.

The SDA isn't exempt either. When any sect of sinners is around for a shorter time period they just don't have much to show for themselves.

Give 'em a little time rope and they'd show up for who they are regardless just like everyone else.

Christian idealism: FAIL

I call them ignorant for a reason.

Isnt that how the Muslims view the Catholic crusades in the dark ages?

Your "bad when you do it - infallible when we did it" argument does not go as far as you may have at first supposed.

The point is that the RCC could be of great help to the Muslims on this point by showing how they were finally able to turn it around.

They don't even understand their own faith. They blew up the tomb of Jonah because it was too Christian and too Jewish. I guess they forgot they believe in the story of Jonah too.

Nobody ever claimed that dark-ages style extermination of heretic (no matter how infallible LATERAN IV is still supposed to be) made much sense.

Are you arguing that the Muslims make less sense then it made to do that stuff in the dark ages?

Why not just argue that everyone should choose to leave the dark ages?

I certainly think it would benefit Muslims to do it.

Far be it from me to say that the RCC should be the only persecuting group to leave the dark ages behind. (Add as many protestants as you like to that list - since I don't endorse Protestants exterminating Catholics either - and neither do modern day Protestants).

in Christ,

Bob

Nonsense. Not everyone was engaged in the dark ages style infallible Lateran IV "extermination of heretics" for example Waldenses and annabaptist were "being exterminated" rather than "exterminating others".

you paint all Christian groups as if they behaved the same in the dark ages - which has no basis in actual history.

And "imagining" the dark ages for current groups -- while making up some great fictions - is devoid of fact.

in Christ,

I did that?

In my life time?

Do you have a quote of it??

Something from me in that regard -- a conspiracy by the Catholic Magisterium to get Muslims in Syria to kill Christians??

Quote please...

, to equating a rejection of the pejorative use of "dark ages" to Holocaust denial? WOW.

"Dark ages"? What are those and when did they happen?

It is fine with me if you are confused about what everyone knows regarding the dark ages.

I am not trying to pull you into the 21st century in that regard.... but for the rest of us...well let's just say that the supposedly "infallible" LATERAN IV command to "exterminate heretics" gets 'noticed'.

Because -- details matter.

in Christ,

Bob
