How are women the "weaker vessel" when they are the ones who endure labor, childbirth, menstruation, and menopause?

I understand what you're saying here, but I just don't see the need for a gender-specific hierarchy. When I marry, I expect to be a partner to my wife - not the "head". The Bible does say that "two shall become one" after all.

Is it not possible for men and women to have an equal relationship, instead of a fairly rigid "men are the head, women are submissive" hierarchy?

Following the bible really doesn't seem to be important to you. The male should lead and be the head that is why we have an outty and women have an inny. That is why white is male and black if female. That is why male is positive and female negative. There is a reason for these things and the order of the universe.

But I have tried to engage with you on a more philosophical level, so I'd appreciate something a little deeper in response than "you don't believe the Bible!"

Assuming the entire Adam and Eve story happened, that was a curse - it was not the way God intended for things to be. So if we're going to assume that women can't be leaders of the church, I hope we have something stronger than that.

Yes....there are differences between men and women, but I don't see how that invalidates female leadership in the church.

Yes, and this was all I was trying to illustrate. Male and Female are not the same. God did not engineer females to lead his Church body this is up to the male to teach and lead.

Actually, I'm 35 and I don't have an older sister. I will enjoy my Church and way of life that does not permit women to be the pastor.

You are right, of course. If we discard a number of books from the Bible, we can easily argue this issue or many others simply on the basis of practicality. Most of us cannot justify considering part of the Bible to be merely personal opinion, and therefore non-binding, while other parts are considered inspired.

This is pretty clear:
“Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I
permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she
is to keep silent”(1 Tim.2:11–12).

If you were to take that literally, it would mean that women could not even speak in bible study groups etc.

Anyone with any Bible knowledge understands that James is a very simple message, unlike most of the other books of the NT, and Revelation is entirely John's report of a vision and one of the last books to be accepted by Christians. But both books remained in Luther's translation of the Bible, so there's no issue here at all.

I only can hope that the women there wise up.

They are wise, for example my Pastor's wife knows her role and fulfills it wonderfully. She is not the Pastor/Teacher but has a place in the congregation.

I don't have a problem with the concept of men and women being different - only that those differences somehow affect women's ability to preach.
