I never said anything about anyone in this thread. I didn't even pretend to understand anyone in this thread. I was talking about generalities... and there are always exceptions to every generality.

I also do believe that nurses tend to have a good grasp on a large spectrum of people because that is a necessary skill to be able to do our job successfully. My current patients run from 2 hours old to I had one not too long ago that was 101. My adult patients now are primarily female but I do float to other units as needed.

I do not know how else people in this thread should take it when one person says they are super awesome at reading people in response to people disagreeing with you on what others think.

Yeah and people don't exhibit their full personalities at hospitals. Come on.. lol.

Again, do you think the general public at large isn't distressed...or less distressed than a patient at discharge? I personally think (note, MY opinion) that when people are distressed we see a lot more of their real self anyway. I mean if I am changing a dressing on a man's testicles or giving someone a soap suds enema before a colonoscopy, that is fairly intimate contact even if it isn't normal interaction.

which brings up another question. which aspect of a person is more important? their real self or their fake self? the answer to that depends on what you need the information for. The information you glean about a person in a hospital setting is useful for a hospital setting. it tells nothing about how a person will act in other situations.
people behave in different ways in different environments. you should have first hand knowledge of the psychology of how people's behavior changes in the presence of important people like doctors.

Okay, I live in a fantasy world. I don't really care if anyone believes me or not. This is one of my gifts from God and I have a life time of confirmation that I am not wrong.

I will go back to the popular thinking. Men date women younger than them because they want to have kids (isn't that the most popular reasoning). Younger women are more fertile and that is why older men are attracted to them...to perpetuate the general population.

As mehguy knows best once christians start invoking the God card theres no arguing with that. It just leads to no where.

I am not a doctor. I do see how people change in front of doctors. I sometimes have to chase a doctor down to make sure doctor sees the whole picture. I ask them about their lives and they tell me about them. I can't help someone if I don't know why they are doing someone or not doing it. I need to understand their real life or their time with us is really a waste.

I am glad that you have a better understanding of the hospital population than I do though. Maybe I am really am clueless.

Well in the future don't be surprised when people take offense to you trying to have some higher authority on how others think.

I'm sure you know a lot about other people, but you don't know close to everything. No one does. As the same, I probably know a lot about aspects of human nature that you know very little of. But that's the beauty of conversing with people. Everyone has something valuable that they can chip in.

I will go back to the popular thinking. Men date women younger than them because they want to have kids (isn't that the most popular reasoning). Younger women are more fertile and that is why older men are attracted to them...to perpetuate the general population.

Attractions exist for a reason. They're not there just "because".
