How harshly is the age gap judged?

I am not a doctor. I do see how people change in front of doctors. I sometimes have to chase a doctor down to make sure doctor sees the whole picture. I ask them about their lives and they tell me about them. I can't help someone if I don't know why they are doing someone or not doing it. I need to understand their real life or their time with us is really a waste.

I am glad that you have a better understanding of the hospital population than I do though. Maybe I am really am clueless.

Well I have a lot of experience and people change in front of nurses too.

many people open up more to the doctor than the nurse for various reasons.

all I am saying, is that you think you are seeing people's true selves in a hospital setting, but you are just seeing one of many masks that people wear.

you claim to know all of the personality types, so you must know that not all of the personality types open up the way you claim. and if all of your patients open up to you... then you haven't met the majority of populations.

And a diabetic foot ulcer (this one is about half the size of the one I cared for and everyone had to put on masks when we did the dressing change because of the smell.) Since this particular patient was bedbound from a stroke, I don't know why they didn't just amputate her foot instead of making her suffer through the twice a day cleanings. Again, Graphic picture

Actually, some hospital visits went that way. I learned something about myself when reality hit. I'm like, "No, wait, I can do that myself."

When I first started, I had a gentleman in his mid 30s who had an abscess on his testicles bad enough that it had to be surgically drained (caused by an ingrown hair) and I got to change his dressing. There were both larger than softballs. The only sweet nothing he wanted me to say at dressing change time was "I have 1mg of dilaudid for you before we get started."

Have I seen a porno? yes, well a very short part of one. Do I watch them? no.

And in nursing school we actually had to do a paper on the way nurses are portrayed in the media...it was really kind of sad.
