How easy is it to lose your salvation?

How easy is it to lose your salvation

  • Once born again, not possible

  • Very difficult - apostasy needed

  • Very difficult - lack of repentance over gross sin needed

  • Quite possible - general back-sliding needed

  • Quite easy - need to make Jesus Lord continually.

No, I don't think once your born again you can ever go back to being unsaved. What I do think is that saving faith might not be as common as we are sometimes lead to believe. There were perhaps 2 million Jews that went through the Exodus and the confirmation of the covenant at Sinai. When it came time for them to go into Canaan, I count only 4 believers, one of them was a Gentile and they wanted to kill Joshua and Caleb. When Jesus told his disciples that they must believe in him, literally 'believe into me', many turned away and would not follow him anymore. In order to be thrown bodily into the lake of fire you have to be a child of perdition, which is the opposite of being born again.

I also think people will be saved at the Great White Throne judgment, but they won't be raised until the end of the Millennial kingdom.

Grace and peace,
Mark
