  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do you "send the signal?"

Huh?!?!? I was so confused after reading this I had to read it again. Maybe it's too early?? It is like 10:30 am my time.

No see, what happened was that you liked reading it so much that your brain just tricked you into thinking it was confused so that you would have to read it over again. :)

By the way, how do they pronounce "Huh?!?!?" in Korea?

I'm not good at receiving signals, or sending them...Usually when I try and send "the signal" it comes out wrong and I get labeled the "safe guy" or the "nice guy" and the girl becomes uninterested...Or she takes offense to it. I'm trying to work on the signal now with a girl, but it's not working so well. :sigh::help:

Some people do it in such a way that you'd need to have a degree in cryptology and be trained as a CSI to be able to pick up on their cues, ............
justaGUYnamedROB, good thread. I'm the one that you might need to be CSI. I usually am subtle and do it in a way so if the guy isn't interested, no harm or foul, we're still friends. Save both from embarassment. I have friends that started as attractions in college, we turned friends, but that light attraction still hung in the air between us. Quite a few I'm still friends with more than 10 years later and living in different parts of the world.

I'm pretty shy and if I find myself mimicking their body language I try to stop myself. But it happens sometimes, and there's been a couple of attraction tangos I've had but didn't pursue b/c they weren't Christian. I have never liked flirting (I'm way conservative in that area), the whole touching and laughing at all their jokes. Some people crack me up, but it doesn't mean I like them in that way.

I think some guys have known, but we still became friends without things being uncomfortable. Maybe this could be seen as a problem to others, but I want the guy I marry to be guarded with his eyes and heart also. A lil reserved maybe, even though I like them to be outgoing. It is possible, I've seen it.

And neither does pulling her hair.
traingosorry, ohhhh yes, (haha) I agree.

How do you tell if it's recieved though do they relay that message is recieved? In all seriousness though what is the best way to tell?
when they say, "i like you"/"i want you in a relationship". if a woman can't be blunt about her feelings, it's a waste of time, in my opinion, to have any hopes for her outside of a friendship.

Sending the signal is my specialty! I'm a usually a very nice, talkative and bold person so here is my sign: If I ignore you and blush a lot, I have a romantic interest in you. I may also become a little sarcastic and mean.
If I'm super nice and uber willing to talk to you, we're just friends.

So, if you walk away thinking I'm mean, I'm probably madly in love with you. If you walk away with only positive thoughts, our future is strictly platonic.

And I wonder why I'm terminally single!

grrrrrrrrrrrr I am frustrated!

I keep screwing up!! I am pretty sure this girl I want to ask out likes me... but for whatever reason I am always lost with my head in the clouds and do something outrageous stupid/neurotic around her.

I was too busy flipping out on my cell phone a little while ago (again - same situation) to notice that she was deliberately getting in my way... I don't think she noticed I was on the phone... she was just doing it to be goofy. But I careened right on past her without a second thought (I ran back to apologize). Last friday when I was leaving she asked if I was doing anything later and I told her I was busy setting things up in my apartment... which was true... but I don't know how I completely missed the invitation there.

I've accidentally ignored her, greeted her by the completely wrong name (we're talking not even a single letter matched), tagged along with her friends and gotten very shy, heavily botched a dance and seriously messed up a little while ago when everybody was making fun of this guy and I joined in.

The weirdest part is that I just don't see it when it happens. I'm pretty certain she's giving me opportunities to invite her out somewhere but I am too oblivious to notice! When I try to make up for it it's always at really bad times... like when she's studying I'll hover over her and try to make her laugh, or when she's out with her friends very much engaged in what she's doing I'll interrupt.

If this situation weren't so tragic you might say I have the timing of a great comedian!

I feel where you are coming from but - no offense - that's incredibly frustrating. My first girlfriend ever was like that, I couldn't figure out why she hated me so much for like a year until one day she made this sarcastic comment and I had enough and just pulled her aside and demanded to know what her issue was.

...not precisely the response I was expecting but I was pretty taken aback.

Somehow we ended up going out for a while... I think I'm traumatized by how off the wall our relationship was...

Ahh yes, the classic "Irresistable Force Meets the Immovable Object" phenomenon. If you get two of the right kind've people together, it can be quite a show.

I think for us guys we generally have to take the buckshot approach. If the girl pretty friendly to us, smiling and engaging us in conversation on a consistent basis, we have to assume we've got a shot and take it ^_^

Touche.

i don't know. I don't think i pick up on signals very well. I'm missing the signal gene or something. If i like someone i'm either really stupid around them or really shy and i guess neither is attractive, b/c it hasn't worked for me.
At least I'm not the only one ;)
