  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

beegy,

In my opinon I think you should put your faith icon back hon. (hope you don't mind using that term--its a southern thing :p) Don't let SOF intimidate you (like he tries to do to everyone in this forum) with what he says. He needs to realize he is not God and he cannot pass judgment on anyone else--there was no need to apologize to him. He should apologize to you.

If you identify as a Christian, I think you should keep that symbol :) There are lots of Christians here who don't believe in Hell. Don't worry about what a few angry people say. Most of us would rather you express yourself as you choose, even if certain people find your beliefs unconventional.
This is a great point. There is no reason to let the bigoted control our actions.

You have a cross at the top of your bar. This should symbolize you are a Christian. If this is the case, then you are either lying (i.e. you are not a Christian) or you are calling Jesus a liar. This is not good in any direction.
Many are disciples of Christ yet are not Christians, I'm one. I have no doubt that we experience the Fullness of Christ in our spiritual lives just like other lovers of God. No iconic Cross needed and no calling anyone a liar suggested.

I just want to thank all you posters who came and stood beside me when I took the Christian symbol off my bar..I do follow the teachings of Christ, I believe with all my heart that He is the Son of God, who was sent to live and experience the pain, suffering and temptations of all of us bound to this sinful world..I believe that because He loved us so much and desired us to spend eternity with Him that he became the ultimate sacrifice for sin..I believe that He was ressurrected on the third day in a spiritual body and that witnesses saw Him ascend into heaven. I believe one day He will return in the same manner.. We are now able to go directly to him for forgiveness and the final reward of being at his side for all eternity..I think, I am a christian, I may disagree on some things of Christianity, but my faith is strong in what I say..God Bless you..

Fact: you are a sinner.

Fact: if you do not repent and become born again, you will be cast into the lake of Fire and will be burned alive for ALL ETERNITY!

Question: how do you plan to escape eternal flames???

I think the first problem is that I don't believe your first fact. Yes I am probably an atheist, but I consider myself a good person. I respect my parents, go to school, don't lie, steal, drink, or do drugs. I've built houses in a third world country. I volunteer. I could go on but you probably get the picture. I know many atheists or agnostics like me who would also consider themselves to be good people. We don't consider ourselves sinners and we don't think we're going to suffer for living the lives that we do. That's reason one for escaping the flames. Reason two is that I'm not convinced they exist. Why not just play Pascal's wager and convert just in case? At this point in my life that wouldn't be true to myself. And being a hypocritical fake convert seems worse than not hedging my bets, but remaining true to myself. Just my $.02

I think you seem to be missing the point of the post. Just because it was written down doesn't make it "fact"... I'm challenging the views that you hold, so that you may introspectively search for how you've come to the conclusions that you now accept as part of your religion.

Incidently, if I WAS your god, why can't I post on said forum? Is it because you can't "believe" that God would do such a thing? If not, why not? He communicates in strange ways does he not? As i understand it God knows and sees ALL...

I think you seem to be lacking a sense of humour :p

Vene's marked up as an atheist. I'm pretty sure he doesn't really think you're God, but he made a humorous statement where he pretended that he did and asked if you, as God, have a complaints department. No one's saying you can't post here. Calm down, dude.

I love this thread :-D

Yes, it has great humor, and the occasional serious discussion.

I think it should be made into a television series. I want my role to be played by Brad Pitt.

7. It is no security to wicked men for one moment, that there are no visible means of death at hand. It is no security to a natural man, that he is now in health, and that he does not see which way he should now immediately go out of the world by any accident, and that there is no visible danger in any respect in his circumstances. The manifold and continual experience of the world in all ages, shows this is no evidence, that a man is not on the very brink of eternity, and that the next step will not be into another world. The unseen, unthought-of ways and means of persons going suddenly out of the world are innumerable and inconceivable. Unconverted men walk over the pit of hell on a rotten covering, and there are innumerable places in this covering so weak that they will not bear their weight, and these places are not seen. The arrows of death fly unseen at noon-day; the sharpest sight cannot discern them. God has so many different unsearchable ways of taking wicked men out of the world and sending them to hell, that there is nothing to make it appear, that God had need to be at the expence of a miracle, or go out of the ordinary course of his providence, to destroy any wicked nian, at any moment. All the means that there are of sinners going out of the world, are so in God's hands, and so universally and absolutely subject to his power and determination, that it does not depend at all the less on the mere will of God, whether sinners shall at any moment go to hell, than if means were never made use of, or at all concerned in the case.
8. Natural men's prudence and care to preserve their own lives, or the care of others to preserve them, do not secure them a moment. To this, divine providence and universal experience do also bear testimony. There is this clear evidence that men's own wisdom is no security to them from death; that if it were otherwise we should see some difference between the wise and politic men of the world, and others, with regard to their liableness to early and unexpected death: but how is it in fact? Eccles. ii. 16. "How dieth the wise man? even as the fool."
9. All wicked men's pains and contrivance which they use to escape hell, while they continue to reject Christ, and so remain wicked men, do not secure them from hell one moment. Almost every natural man that hears of hell, flatters himself that he shall escape it; he depends upon himself for his own security; he flatters himself in what he has done, in what he is now doing, or what he intends to do. Every one lays out matters in his own mind how he shall avoid damnation, and flatters himself that he contrives well for himself, and that his schemes will not fail. They hear indeed that there are but few saved, and that the greater part of men that have died heretofore are gone to hell; but each one imagines that he lays out matters better for his own escape than others have done. He does not intend to come to that place of torment; he says within himself, that he intends to take effectual care, and to order matters so for himself as not to fail.
But the foolish children of men miserably delude themselves in their own schemes, and in confidence in their own strength and wisdom; they trust to nothing but a shadow. The greater part of those who heretofore have lived under the same means of grace, and are now dead, are undoubtedly gone to hell; and it was not because they were not as wise as those who are now alive: it was not because they did not lay out matters as well for themselves to secure their own escape. If we could speak with them, and inquire of them, one by one, whether they expected, when alive, and when they used to hear about hell ever to be the subects of that misery: we doubtless, should hear one and another reply, "No, I never intended to come here: I had laid out matters otherwise in my mind; I thought I should contrive well for myself: I thought my scheme good. I intended to take effectual care; but it came upon me unexpected; I did not look for it at that time, and in that manner; it came as a thief: Death outwitted me: God's wrath was too quick for me. Oh, my cursed foolishness! I was flattering myself, and pleasing myself with vain dreams of what I would do hereafter; and when I was saying, Peace and safety, then suddenly destruction came upon me. --Jonathan Edwards.
===================================================

If you are intelligent enough to read the text above and understand it; you must answer the question: "How do you plan to escape HELL???".

I see a lot of sappy feel good nonsense going on around here. A whole lot of fluff and no ABSOLUTE TRUTH!

Fact: you are a sinner.

Fact: if you do not repent and become born again, you will be cast into the lake of Fire and will be burned alive for ALL ETERNITY!

Question: how do you plan to escape eternal flames???

All your hatred of God and disdain for His Word will not get you closer to Him. All your hatred for what is right and good will not help you. Your political party will not help you. Your membership to any organization or ism (i.e. G.L.A.D. or Communism )will not help you in the least.

So how do you plan on escaping eternal flames???

Seeing that many brilliant minds, yes brighter than yours; have failed to keep them out of hell: what strategy are you going to employ to not burn for all eternity???

Psssst... come closer.

Pssst... a little closer still.

Hint, hint: if you are not looking to Yeshua Messiah: you're toast!

P.s. The answer to the question can be found in the book called the Holy Bible. Make good use of it. It contains the only plan that works.

SOLI DEO GLORIA.
ditto, how will i escape hell? well i haven't found anything yet. so as long as i get my glass of Pinot Noir or Chardonay (differing theories of the temperature of hell) i'll be comfortablely numb in hell not wanting to escape while i'm drowning my eternity in the bottle which will then make me numb to the fires gnashing my flesh and no worries of dieing from alcohol poisoning when i'm already dead and the alcohol will probably make me feel warm in case it is freezing in hell.

no reason to escape i suppose.

The God that created the universe doesn't torture innocent people in eternal flames. Madmen like Hitler and Pol Pot and Stalin tried that. If God does intend to torture the majority of the human race, I don't really see any hope for any of us, if God has the mentality of Hitler, Himmler or Eichmann.
