Being transsexual, having the desire to live as the sex opposite to what it says on ones birth certificate is no longer considered a mental illness, at least in the US.

Yet we do just that with most other forms of mental illness. Especially those which express delusion. Are you saying we are not considering the 'dignity' of the schizophrenic, when we treat him? Because you'd be wrong. We treat these people so that they can have dignity. The dignity of reasonable health.

And if the effective treatment to mitigate all negative symptoms of Schizophrenia was to indulge it?
