Wow! I am reading it - and I realised something. (I have read Matthew before but rereading you pick up on things) When Jesus was tested and he was temped to jump of the mountain and Jesus said DO NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST (he was referencing Deuteronomy) I realised why I have been ill....I have been putting God to the test...

He's opened your eyes. Praise God.

And, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." -- Carnality vs Spirituality.

"And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live."
(Deu. 8:3)

I need to have control of something - like i am drifting in the current.

We all are, more or less. --
All life on Earth depends on God's protection, even the Earth's movement through space has a purpose, it's heading somewhere towards something. We are all heading somewhere, either with the Lord or against him.

You'll find yourself reading Matthew (and the other 4 books of the Gospel) more than once or twice, hundreds throughout your life... The NT is full of references to the OT and Torah, over 340,000...

I DON'T LIKE NOT BEING IN CONTROL OF MY FUTURE AND LEAVING THINGS IN THE OPEN!

Everyone has burdens, a believer casts them on to God. -- We are only as strong as the Lord makes us, and he is the strongest of them all.

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." (Ps. 55:22)

But also, true a Christian godly community has self-sacrificial people, who look out for each other. If you truly need help, you should ask, and believers are obliged to help you like the Good Samaritan. The rest are hypocrites, to avoid.

"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."
(Gal. 6:2)

I am gonna tell you this now - when somebody commits suicide and people say *THEY ARE GOING TO HELL* do you realise you have to be in a SAVAGELY DARK PLACE to kill yourself?

Everyone is down at times, and depression is normal in that regard, suicidal thoughts however are not, and mental health varies from person to person.

The Lord referenced the Good Samaritan (heretic) for a reason. Be prepared to be turned down by institutional religion.

We all need bread to survive - I see that verse telling me that WHILST WE ENJOY THE BREAD AND FRUIT OF THE WORD - we must be in the word of God too - balance (how I see it anyway).

Hence I am not worried now - I have no power to do anything when it comes to God

We all need bread to survive - I see that verse telling me that WHILST WE ENJOY THE BREAD AND FRUIT OF THE WORD - we must be in the word of God too - balance (how I see it anyway).

Then you don't understand. -- It's not 'balance' or seeking some bread and seeking some Scripture, which is what most people will tell you...

Life itself is a miracle, solely dependent on God. The impossible probability of life, water, plants, animals, the fact we wake up alive, breathing, heart beating hearing, etc, all of which are extremely complex bio-mechanisms more sophisticated than machines today.

You and I can't control any of these. We can't make them, or replicate them. But this is what the Devil offered Christ and all power. The Devil who is 'Prince of this world' who's power defaulted to him when Adam was driven from Eden, literally having the power to 'offer' such a thing to the Lord, but it's only temporary, and prophecy will unfold and fix this in future... This is why there will be a war in future. A war in heaven AND on earth, and how the Son of Man will crush the serpent as prophesied in Genesis. While Satan CAN offer us limited things, it's true, he CANNOT create life itself which God can.

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other." (Mt. 6:24)

Hence, the Jewish experience of God is both miraculous and symbolic of HOW God looks after his people. He gives you ENOUGH daily to be full, enough opportunities for you to gather, whether you are sick at home, or the healthiest person in the camp. Everyone has enough and eats until they are full. No one is lacking.

That's why a person must 'seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness' and why 'man does not live by bread alone but every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.'

God 'breathed' life into Adam's nostrils... That's how humanity began... The same breath of life is in you and I today, your breath or spirit. We cannot control it. We cannot stop it (try holding your breath - it's not physically possible). But God CAN, no matter how dire our circumstance. God can even raise us from the dead, like Christ 'being first born from the dead'. This is why the Gospel message is so significant, and why we cannot 'live by bread alone', because 'the flesh is weak' and cursed to die (no one alive has eternal life - Except Adam DID until he lost it). And that is why the Scripture is also 'God breathed', being the LIVING WORDS, words of life, etc, and how Christ can say and do things that become miracles (being God). And likewise, Scripture itself has the power of God, because in a certain sense it IS God.

Hence, "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." (Ps. 1:1-3) and in "whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for God's glory" (1 Cor. 10:3)

It's the same thing. Walking in the spirit. Following Christ. Loving God. Living for God's glory, etc. It's siding with God, and following his way, his law, his righteousness etc, and LIVING ETERNALLY, not temporarily. To have LONG LIFE, like Methuselah. Lights that burn forever, not bright stars that burn out quickly. hence humility, lowliness, self-sacrifice, being like an ant etc. -- You see ?

"And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." (Luke 10:18)

Hope that helps :)

Thus, an 'immediate solution' is always possible. The earth is bountiful, and "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few" (Mt. 9:37)
That is talking about salvation, NOT growth. Paul says we are changed from glory to glory. That takes TIME.

I NEED GOD TO COME TO ME IN HIS MEGA POWER!

Careful with these requests. The devil would know and could come to you, pretending to be God.

The devil is the prince of this world so be careful.

I was told: prayer and fasting is not the way.

So please, tell me.

Have you read the Word?

I know alot of people hate when others ask something simple, whether or not because of ego/pride, but alot also neglect the fundamentals and instead cut corners by asking other people's opinion and input as gospel.

Such as where are you getting the idea of living in the spirit?
Where are you getting the idea that prayer and fasting is not the way?
Do you check your thoughts against what the Bible actually said?

You have to live by faith, but faith comes by the knowledge of the Word through set actions. (Romans 10:17). You cannot pray without it. You would not fast without it. Your actions needs to be driven not by man's words but by God's. So it is crucial that you first read the Word and know God and His Spirit for yourself. But YOU have to do that, the church nor other people can do that for you, it is YOUR responsibility.

It seems to me that you have faith in Jesus from what you have said. Maybe you need to calm down have faith in yourself and the love you have for Christ. I can feel it in you, can you? Slow down and go easy and be content in Jesus and live your life assured that you are his.

Apparently, this will solve all my problems in life.

Without the Holy Spirit, you struggle: but you struggle too much.

Better to live with the Holy Spirit's remembering what to do, than doing it yourself one way and another - and getting lost!

I am learning this myself, actually - that Christ intended for His Bride (the Church) to be perfected, with the Holy Spirit's help.

Hello,
Prayer and Fasting is the way. Live according to the 10 commandments and 7 Holy Sacraments. Do not let a day go by without a prayer because if you do it will not be the same. That is the best way to protect yourself from negativity and evil spirits. Feel free to visit this website :www.orthochristiantools.com It helped me a lot. I wish you all the best.

Hi Daniel, when one accepts Jesus with a sincere heart, confesses their sin to Him, ask Him to come into their life, they are affirming they want to live their life according to His ways ... and not your own ways. This means you want Him to search your heart for sin, make you aware of it and help you overcome it by His Holy Spirit working in you.

It is a life-long process, you WILL mess up here and there, we all do .... but our thinking needs to be change and have the mind to do better and Jesus helps us to do better.

You will not have a perfect life ... satan is always trying to lead you away from God. But if you stand firm, by keeping your mind focused on God, you will be saved and receive eternal life. Staying focused is to study His Word and applying His principles/teachings to your daily life and through prayer.

Each of us MUST study His word for themselves ... that is His main "vehicle" in communicating to us what He wants us to know about Him.

You were created in His image (His character) and He wants everyone to see His way is the best way to live and choose to live that way .... now ... and in eternity

You are very special ... there has never been anyone exactly like you, nor will there ever be .... each of us are unique and very special to Him. He loves you so much He laid His life down for you providing the way to eternal life with Him.

As far as hell goes ... hell is not some kind of a "immortal party place". In the very end, when God completes His total plan ... those who reject Him and His ways will be destroyed never to exist again ... necessary to eradicate sin from the universe.

The He will make a new totally sinless world and He will dwell with us forever more.

The choice is yours ... He doesn't force anyone to choose Him.

Here's a link to some verses about the Christian life.

What Does the Bible Say About Living A Christian Life?

I pray you will choose life with Him. Amen.

Walking in the Spirit is not a matter of technique. It's a relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.

Note Paul says simply, "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." Gal 5:16 He simply says to do it, but speaks of no techniques involved, because it's not a matter of technique. We walk by faith, not by technique.
