None of the above. How would creationists determine which is the correct view of Earth's history?
The Bible.pitabread said:What methodology would creationists apply to determine this?
Then why is someone asking how it can be tested? That's fine from a particular religious perspective, but a book is not, cannot be scientific evidence. The Bible is no more scientific evidence of creationism than Origin of Species is evidence of evolution.
Been awhile since I checked the science boards. The last time I was on I think you were in the Anglican Church, now it says you are other religion. What religion did you join (If you don't want to share, np) NM, AV told me what's up.
QV please:Been awhile since I checked the science boards. The last time I was on I think you were in the Anglican Church, now it says you are other religion. What religion did you join (If you don't want to share, np)
It seems the correct caption to me, since so many creationists deny the Christian faith of Anglicans anyway, and regard it as "other religion."
The star saturn (the pagans name for Gods created star).Keep it simple; does the bible mentions the rings of Saturn?
Value to whom?
Are you saying that science created the 'sorting' that you are seeing in your popcorn bowl?
If you are tired of getting unpopped kernals don't use the microwave, pop it on the stovetop using fresh popcorn.
You're welcome!
It's intrinsic...no "whom", as per my tree example.
A tree has intrinsic value.
Lumber cut from that tree does not.
That is not outside the Bible speaks about the sun, moon stars etc.. I just see with my eyes that as the Bible states.
Out side conformation would be a group separate from the Bible. Which i would look to, to confirm that the sun is moving over the earth, the moon is a light, etc...
I think a good methodology is to study Genesis from a scholarly perspective first, (Hebrew, ANE culture and history) catalogue the likely meanings, and see if they meet observation. That may or may not eliminate some of the choices but I think it's the best route. I think we can eliminate flat earth from scripture (let me know if you want me to explain that), and I think we can't predict the age of the earth because scripture does not mention a day that the earth was created. So I'm not sure how we can say, from scripture, that the earth is any particular age.
None of the above.
The Bible.
The correct view is that of the agreement of Scripture with Science, History and Genetics. Our Universe began 13.8 Billion years ago on the 3rd Day.
This might come as a shock to you, but the Sun and Moon (as physical objects) exist outside of the Bible.
Regardless, the mere existence of the Sun and Moon does entail that anything actually written in the Bible about them is true. That is post-hoc reasoning and it's a fallacy.
The Sun neither moves over the Earth nor is the Moon a light. I think you're a bit stuck there.
If the Bible said the ocean was red, i have the perfect right to see if that is true and to look at the ocean to see if the Bible is true in that regard.
If you are so hard up for a got you, then take it, it does not matter to me,
Then your OP is vague. That is not a coherent answer to the question of how one determines something.
What specifically is your question?
That is not outside the Bible speaks about the sun, moon stars etc.. I just see with my eyes that as the Bible states.
Out side conformation would be a group separate from the Bible. Which i would look to, to confirm that the sun is moving over the earth, the moon is a light, etc...
Then I predict you won't get a satisfactory answer. And simply answering "The Bible" is not answering how.
Okay. So what would you say to a creationist who thinks the universe is only ~6000 years old? How would you demonstrate that it is 13.8 billion years old?
How do you determine that you have the correct interpretation of events as written in the Bible versus how they interpret events in the Bible?
Then I predict you won't get a satisfactory answer.
It's a shame that, despite the fact that God tells us what He did, how He did it, where He did it, when He did it, what order He did it in, how long it took Him to do it, why it took Him that long, what He thought of what He did, who the eyewitness were (some by name) and how they reacted, science isn't satisfied.
