Devout believer in a theologically different God
Perhaps he said that. Perhaps he meant what you think.Carico said:Jesus said "He who is not with me is against me." You cannot be both. You cannot both say you believe Jesus is telling the truth and that he is lying at the same time. It's one or the other. Jesus says he was with his Father in the beginning when man was first created.
And perhaps he didn´t.
Everything you hear and read is interpreted, and interpretations can be wrong - as I will show with the rest of your post.
That, for example, is an interpretation. It is possible that it is correct, but other potentially correct interpretations exist. Perhaps God was talking to Satan or the Angels. Perhaps to his consort, Astera, who got edited out lated when Judaism became truely monotheistic. Perhaps the author had God speaking in a Pluralis Majestatis? All possible interpretations, and the Bible is quite about the correct one. That's why Genesis uses the word; "we" when describing who created the world.
This is simply wrong. Evidence exist that Genesis was written just a few hundred years before Jesus, at a time where Judaism had to defend its existence against a competing belief system - the Babylonian. And Genesis was written thousands of years before jesus walked on the earth!
But even if you assume that the Mosaian authorship is correct, Genesis would have been written not quite 1,500 years before Jesus.
"The Jews" might agree to the Mosaian authorship - which would still disagree with "thousands of years" - and which would still not mean that they are correct. The Jews and all anient people will confirm that.
And no other "ancient people" confirms this story.
Obviously, you believe things that can be shown to be incorrect. Usually, this is no problem - we are humans, and can make mistakes. Yet there are ways to find out if our positions are wrong - and only if you deny using these ways do mistakes become dangerous. If you believe Christ's words in the bible, then why would you not believe Genesis? If you only believe part of the bible, then how do you know which parts are true and which are not? Just a guess?
