If you have a documented fact on that point please share it with us - I would be interested.
It was in a book called When Jesus Became God by Rubenstein. I'd give you the page number, but I no longer have the book.

But why did it even have to be changed at all to Sunday..what was wrong with keeping Saturday? Was
it bbecause Jesus supposedly rose from the dead on Sunday? The only thing we know is the tomb was empty on Sunday not that He rose that day. Jesus was not crucified on Friday. It would make no sense. More like Wednesday before the passover as the bible says it was a high holy day.
Just don't know why it had to b messed with at all.

The information you have upon the last week of Jesus is incorrect, please see the following, details:

You may see the rest here: - https://www.baptistboard.com/thread...us-trials-crucifixion-death-burial-res.93444/

Scripture has already detailed the final week for us, in a quick snapshot of the collective events:

[the 7th Day Sabbath of the LORD thy God]

Jesus at Lazarus' house in Bethany [Mt. Olivet] - [John 12:1]- http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213995&postcount=27

[the first [day] of the week]

Jesus Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, "the next day" from leaving Lazarus' house, Hosanna! - [John 12:12,13; Matthew 21:10; Mark 11:11], goes to the Temple, and after looking around, leaves, since it was close to evening back out unto Mt. Olivet.

[the second [day] of the week]

Jesus comes back, curses the fig tree, goes to the Temple, and cleanses the Temple for the Second [last] time of the Money Changers - [Matthew 21:12,13,17; Mark 11:12,15,16,17,19], and Jesus goes back out.

[the third [day] of the week]

Jesus comes back, the Fig tree is withered up from the roots, goes to the Temple, and has the final teachings to the Pharisees, etc - [Matthew 21:18,23; Mark 11:20,27].

This was the "two days" before the "Passover" - [Matthew 26:1-2; Mark 14:1; Luke 21:37-38, 22:1].

Jesus tells the Jewish nation, that their house is forever left desolate, no more fruit again - [Matthew 23:37-39; Luke 11:32-35].

Jesus said, that He still had to do "cures" and "cast out devils" "to day, tomorrow and the third day" and be done - [Luke 13:32,33]

Jesus had been "daily" in the Temple - [Matthew 25:55; Mark 14:49; Luke 19:47, 22:53; John 18:20]

[the fourth [day] of the week]

The "tomorrow" [Luke 13:32,33]

[the fifth [day] of the week]

The "Third Day" [Luke 13:32,33], being done.

[the sixth [day] of the week; preparation]

Gather twice as much, Christ Jesus the anti-typical Manna, Exodus 16:25,26 - See - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2212950&postcount=17 and http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2212951&postcount=18

The "spices" "had been" [Mark 16;1] purchased sometime after the Crucifixion and before burial so that they could "prepare" [Luke 23:56] them to bring on the "first [day] of the week" [Luke 24:1], even as we see Joseph of Arimathaea doing for the linen - [Mark 14:46] See - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213241&postcount=20
http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213243&postcount=21

1st Evening Part - [Matthew 26:31,34; Mark 14:27,30]
1st Morning [Light] Part - [Matthew 27:21; Mark 15:1]
See - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213239&postcount=19

Aviv/Nisan 14th; Christ Jesus our Passover is Sacrificed for us - [1 Corinthians 5:7], See - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213507&postcount=23 and http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213509&postcount=24

[the 7th Day Sabbath of the LORD thy God]

Jesus remained in the Tomb all Sabbath - anti-type Manna - Exodus 16:29,30

The Disciples were keeping the Sabbath according to the Commandment - [Exodus 20:8-11; Luke 23:54,56]

2nd Evening and 2nd Morning Parts - [Matthew 27:58-66, 28:1; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:52-53,54; John 19:38-42]

Aviv/Nisan 15th - Seasonal Feast Sabbath [First Day of Unleavened Bread, without corruption] - [Leviticus 23:5-8]

[the first [day] of the week]

Christ Jesus, preserved and Risen - Anti-type Manna - Exodus 16:32-34

3rd Evening and 3rd Morning Parts, Christ Risen and shown alive - [Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2; Luke 24:1; John 20:1]

Aviv/Nisan 16th; Christ the Firstfruits/Wavesheaf Offering, Anti-Type Resurrection - [1 Corinthians 15:20,23].

Jesus was walking with the disciples on the Road to Emmaus on the "first [day] of the week", as the day was closing out, being "the third day since these things" were done [Luke 24:21], See - http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2213502&postcount=22

[the second [day] of the week]

Jesus was still walking with the two disciples on the Road to Emmaus as the first [day] of the week was closing, and it becomes Evening - [Luke 24:29,35, etc]

etc...

God/'Jesus' was "finished" after the 6th Day of Creation and rested the 7th Day:

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. - Genesis 1:31

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. - Genesis 2:1

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. - Genesis 2:2

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. - Genesis 2:3

Turning to the New Testament Gospels, we find Jesus "finished" with the courtyard ministry on earth, in the same time, the 6th Day, entering into His rest the 7th Day:

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. - John 19:30

Creation [Exodus 20:8-11] & Redemption [Deuteronomy 5:12-15] meet, forever sealed, the Holy 7th Day the Sabbath of the LORD thy God, the sign of His rest from His work, and so much more [soon to be gone into, and what it means for the Everlasting Gospel itself].

Yet, Jesus was not done except for that portion of His work ["an atonement" was made; Leviticus 4], for there was an Heavenly work yet to do [and "the atonement" to be made soon; Leviticus 16 & 23], until He is "finished" once more, and soon, after the real literal days of Genesis 1, as our pattern [2 Peter 3:8], taking each day with the LORD as a thousand years, we see the Ministry of Christ Jesus in the Heavenly Temple and Everlasting Gospel itself, is about to be "finished" in this, the 6,000th year from the beginning, before we, who are faithful, enter into that 7th of rest in Heaven...

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. - Revelation 10:7

Soon, in this the 6'th 'day' with the LORD, it will be "done":

And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. - Revelation 16:17

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. - Revelation 21:6

Separately from the Jews. I can see that. If it's known to b the true Sabbath. Saturday would it b too difficult for churches to just Saturday instead of Sunday?

What is interesting is that both the "Westminster Confession of Faith" and the "Baptist Confession of Faith" seem to agree at least to an extent with the RCC that a "Change was made" to the Sabbath commandment as given by God in Eden to mankind - sometime after the cross.

History tells us -- it was not in the first century.

in Christ,

Bob

You seem to have overlooked my post #104. I am interested in your response. Here it is again -

Well, you certainly ignore most of the Sabbath commandments. If all God had to say about the Sabbath was in Exodus 20:8-11 then the Bible would be a considerably smaller book. As it is, the things you do or don't do on Saturdays are not markedly different than the things that conservative Protestants do or don't do on Sundays.

I use scripture when needed. It bugs me that some posters spam the forum with unecessary and irrelevant scriptures instead of making their point succinctly.

God used "one word", the "Ten Commandments", and yet so many refuse to do them.

Who can cause the mouth to cease from praising God in His mighty deeds:

Job 13:13 KJV - Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what [will].

Job 21:3 KJV - Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

Psalm 35:28 KJV - And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness [and] of thy praise all the day long.

If anyone would like more silent company, they may speak to their idols of stone, wood, glass, marble:

Psalm 115:5 KJV - They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

Psalm 115:7 KJV - They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

I think it would be really splendid if all God asked of folks here was to keep ten commandments. However, God, as we all know, did not stop at ten, but also gave another 600 or so commandments to His covenant people. When you are willing to acknowledge and obey all of God's commandments I will begin to take you seriously.

You should ask the SDA why they keep dietary laws which isn't part of the 10 yet ignore most if not all of the rest of the 600. I can sort of see in a sense some logic (not good logic) to keeping the 10 but when you add ANY outside of those on the stone tablets you open the door to THEM ALL.

Quite true. That is why they fall back on the subterfuge that the commandments they ignore are not part of God's "moral" law (implying, of course, that these commandments are God's "immoral" law). Despite their loud profession of being sola scriptura in belief, they cannot find a single place in scripture where the Law is thus divided for us.

I'm not surprised that they say they are sola scriptura, it is another tactic to make people believe they are "more correct" than another group that doesn't when in fact they are more like that other group than they are the group that believes in sola scriptura.
