Bob, I never said, the devil is in hell the scripture ONLY shows "fallen angels" who were imprisoned in hell and that hell was "chains of darkness" I think it's obvious he prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. All the same, during the thousand year reign with Christ he was bound in chains and then thrown into the abyss (deep pit). However, I don't contest hell will be made of fire and there won't be anyone going there It's true! It's REAL!

Matthew 18:8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast [them] from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

Mark 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

This is true.

Again and again i have said, God does not send anyone to hell!! We do it ourselves! We are the ones who determine where we go! If you believe in God, know God, and yet still sin then you are choosing your own destiny!

If Hell existed then God would be the creator of it, a place of eternal torture for those who fail to believe in an uncertain world which reqires faith.

So I have seen lately that Hell is getting redefined to not really be a place of torment but just the fact that since God is everywhere than it will be awful for non Christians and to them that will be Hell. I was surprised to learn that the idea of Hell that many Christians know has not always existed. I was taught that Hell was a real place so is it real or just a state of mind?
HELL IS A REAL PLACE. The Bible says that the wicked shall be cast into Hell and all the nations that forget God. Jesus Christ gave a picture himself when he talked about the rich man and the begger. There are plenty of verses in the Bible that speaks of phisical hell. Remember if Heaven is literal then Hell is too.

I don't know why we have some Christians who seem a little wishy-washy on the idea of hell. But if 90% of people seem to say it's real there's a higher chance of this just being true and if the Scripture has enough words that back it up, why would we believe anything else.

IMHO there was a time before I "graduated" from high school I was told by another friend that the world out there was as I would view it. If I thought it was hard and cold it would actually be like that and if I thought it was the best place on earth then it would be so to me. Well, I finally came out to the world and sadly, whether I thought it was the best place or not it was still hard and cold. And the truth is, whether we feel hell isn't an eternal damnation or not it is "HELL." and it will be like a burning furnace when the LORD COMES riding in the CLOUDS, yep.

Where did you get the idea that Hell is, "for those who fail to believe in an uncertain world which reqires faith."?

I really don't see this conditional in place. Heaven can exist perfectly well regardless if whether hell is literal, or is different from how some perceive it etc. Just because one thing is presented/translated/interpreted wrong doesn't mean another thing is too.

It's all throughout the Bible and before Moses started the Bible. Salvation requires faith in an invisible God. Those who reject the idea of an unseen God are said to be tormented for infinity.

They are punished for their sin.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

"depart from me, you workers of lawlessness."

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.a 6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

What i'm saying is is that Heaven and Hell are mentioned in the Bible as both literal places. So if you accept the fact that Heaven is real you have to with Hell also, you can't just accept the fact that Heaven is real because you want to go there and not accept it with Hell because you don't want to go there.

“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalm 9:17
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:” II Thes. 1:8
“… Who among us shall dwell with the
devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?” Isa. 33:14
“And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for
their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.” Is. 66:24

“Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” II Thes. 1:9
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” Mat. 25:46
Exactly! The everlasting punishment is everlasting destruction. Caused by the devouring fire, the everlasting burning. Those who are "turned into hell" will be destroyed, both soul and body. Matthew 10:28

The Bible does not contradict itself. The wages of sin is death, not eternal torment in hell. The Bible says that the wicked will be destroyed.

A Blonde Moment: Can someone explain the difference between eternal torment and everlasting burning? Does it mean that souls of men will be destroyed completely or does it mean souls men will have an everlasting destruction? Who knows what this is?

"And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever." Verse 15. "Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire." So is the same punishment subject to the rebellious ones or just the devil and the false prophet?

Eternal torment and everlasting burning are the same things. It's just that there is two places of torment. Hell is the temperary place for right now until the reserrction of the damned which will take place after the millennium kingdom age. The dead will come out of Hell to receive God's last judgement in the Great white thrown Judgement after that they will be cast into the Lake of Fire along with the Devil, fallen angels, antichrist, false prophet, and the beast.
