Was she convicted of anything?Fonda shouldn't even be a free woman. Fortunately for her, America is soft on traitors
No. In case you missed it, I pointed out America is soft on traitorsWas she convicted of anything?
In case you missed it, you didn't provide anything to show that she is a traitor. Unwise? Certainly. A traitor? Not demonstrated.No. In case you missed it, I pointed out America is soft on traitors
Aid and comfort to the enemy. Remember that? It's quite clearIn case you missed it, you didn't provide anything to show that she is a traitor. Unwise? Certainly. A traitor? Not demonstrated.
Well, that's only because you hate America.
And you're right it is completely Orwellian because "the enemy" is used to refer to the Islamofacistnaziterrorists (or whatever the word de jour is) and to people who disagree with initiating or continuing the war in Iraq. Thus they can say with a straight face that "if you're not with us, you're with the terrorists" because they conflate both as "the enemy."
Aid and comfort to the enemy. Remember that? It's quite clear
Jane Fonda for oneThe Communists used to be the enemy of choice; then favorites like Jane Fonda, the protesting students and the hippie flower children. Now the "Enemy" has taken on a multitude of amorphous descriptions under one name: Those Who Hate Our Freedoms, Sunni, Shi'ia, Osama, All Muslims, Obama, Hillary, Hagel, Liberals, Atheists, and Secular Humanists. With a good portion of the HSD budget focused on domestic surveillance, it's no wonder that part of the war on terrorism is focused on quelling any criticism, deflecting any effort to enforce oversight and responsibility on war expenditures, and characterize all Americans who criticize the war as being on the same wavelength as Osama Bin Laden. What's ironic is that what Osama is fighting for - Islamic fundamentalism of the most conservative order - has a lot in common with what many ultra-conservative religious leaders in America also believe in: against social immorality, homosexuality, secular humanism, religions other than theirs, women working and living independently and moving freely in society, all under a theocratic society that seeks to impose its religious worldview on the rest of the world. Who's the real enemy?
No, it's not 'quite clear', as even the article you cited states.Aid and comfort to the enemy. Remember that? It's quite clear
I suppose nothing would convince you, but that does not change the facts. In different times, she would have faced the firing squad. No, it's not 'quite clear', as even the article you cited states.
Good job. You keep working on hating Jane Fonda and all those other filthy liberals. Why bother being against the US' real enemies when you can hate liberals?Jane Fonda for one
Then you suppose wrong. And what would happen in 'different times' is completely irrelevant.I suppose nothing would convince you, but that does not change the facts. In different times, she would have faced the firing squad.
Jane Fonda for one
I don't understand how you can hate those who disagree with you so much.
That would be a problem. I'm glad we're not dealing with that problem nowI disagree: I think the real enemy is political authoritarianism that seeks to impose a dictatorship, as well as religious fundamentalism that seeks to impose its will upon society as a theocracy.
That would be a problem. I'm glad we're not dealing with that problem now
Marching with them was Jane Fonda, in what she said was her first anti-war demonstration in 34 years.
"Silence is no longer an option," Fonda said to cheers from the stage on the National Mall. The actress once derided as "Hanoi Jane" by conservatives for her stance on Vietnam said she had held back from activism so as not to be a distraction for the Iraq anti-war movement, but needed to speak out now.
Fonda was a lightning rod in the Vietnam era for her outspoken opposition to that war and her advocacy from Hanoi at the height of that conflict. Sensitive to the old wounds, she made it a point to thank the active-duty service-members, veterans and Gold Star mothers who attended the rally.
She drew parallels to the Vietnam War, citing "blindness to realities on the ground, hubris ... thoughtlessness in our approach to rebuilding a country we've destroyed." But she noted that this time, veterans, soldiers and their families increasingly and vocally are against the Iraq war.
