I could name a few choice words that black people call themselves but throw out the "racist" label when a white says the same words. Do you believe those choice words, and you know which ones I am talking about, are racist?
I would consider the word you're referring to offensive, regardless of the skin color of the person saying it, or how it is spelled.

I don't personally find "Halfrican" racist or offensive, but I am not half-African. There may be some who do find it offensive, but I've seen many biracial people use it (do a blog search for "Halfrican," and you'll find one blog called The Halfrican-American by someone who's half black/half jewish). But perhaps they're just exhibiting self-hate?

I'm looking forward to Hannity's show tonight to find out who will be his choice for Enemy of the Week. Here are three good candidates. Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and of course, the resurgent (rhymes with insurgent) Jane Fonda. If he chooses Jane Fonda, I'm hoping he at least temporarily returns to the Enemy of the State format.

Why do you look forward to such drivel? Honestly, why do people enjoy this type of bashing? Are people really that emotionally driven that they cling on to hacks such as Hannity and the like?
Why are these people enemies again? Because they have come out and said they dont like what is going on in Iraq? That constitutes being an enemy now?
I believe everyone has the right to say what they want, especially when it comes to politics. Freedom of speech is very much important in any healthy democracy. To turn around and start labeling people that disagree with you traitors or enemies is truely disheartening and this type of thinking needs to be exposed, if not for the dishonesty that it is, then for the hatred that it breeds.
Noam Chomsky said something once that reminds me of this issue. He said, "If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all."

Nobody has questioned anyone's rigth to say anything. It's rather a matter of what is prudent, something the likes of Fonda do not understand. She proved that when she went to Hanoi.

Sad but true. It promises to be a long running show.

Hmm...

It promises to be a long running show. Sad but true.

Fixed!

That said, I'm reminded of the expression, "Dissent is the sincerest form of patriotism."
