Approximate Nisan 14 timeline:
Nisan 14 began at sundown. Jesus eats his last supper with his chosen 12 (7-9pm). They go the Garden of Gethsemane & Jesus prays (9pm -midnight) He is arrested (midnight) the Priests accuse, abuse & condemn Him (midnight-6am). Hes taken to Pilate questioned, abused, scourged & sentenced to death (6am til 8am). Nailed to the cross (9am) suffers and dies at (3pm) all on Nisan 14.

They have to go to Pilate & get permission to Get Christ off the Cross. Then clean him up, wrap him up & put him in the grave.

Its now after (7 pm) sundown on Nisan 14.

So, """day one""" begins Thurs - Nisan 15 - 9pm - midnight.

Fri at sundown (7pm) """day two""" Nisan 16. Sat 7 Pm to 7pm """day 3""" ends.

Nisan 17 first fruits/resurrection Sunday begins sundown (7pm) Jesus rises 9pm- midnight.

Mary shows up first light HE'S GONE!

Above timeline includes 3 day & nights in the belly of the earth.

Wed death works, Fri death doesn't!

Do a simple google search: when was Nisan 14 in 30 AD.

Do another simple google search: when is Nisan 14 2017.

Quess what, niether search will comfirm to be a Friday.

These things are traditions, similar to aspects of the law. I don't pay a lot of attention to the world's set holidays, so called Holy days. I worship God every day and am thankful every day for the sacrifice that Jesus the Christ, the son of the living God made for me. All the arguments, debates, historical frames of reference about this day and that day etc bear no good fruit, no edification. Defying traditions usually brings condemnation by established religion/denominations. Much of the protestant religion is no different than the Jewish fixations on traditions of men. They have nothing to do with serving God.

If a Christian wants to observe these things and give them a special significance, fine. If not fine, as long as God is worshipped, obeyed and honored in every aspect of our lives. In order not to stumble the weak we should make ourselves all things to all men, knowing that days, and traditions, certain foods and so forth neither commend us to God or separate us from him. Fear God.

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
Romans 14:5 ESV

Frank Jennings,

The post gives the scripture on how God told His people to Sacrifice the Passover lamb on Nisan 14

The post says any day is a great day to celebrate the resurrection.

The post doesn't tell anyone they must observe any days.

The post attempts to focus on the good Friday misnomer.

And supports: 2 Timothy 2: verse 15 in particular

15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I understand the feeling of frustration though, so many traditions are held and not let loose easily,
most posts on all forums are fully or tainted by many traditions that are not close to scripture and that are not from YHWH(God), no matter what group(s) holds to them.
Learning the truth from YHWH, even at all cost, is a big challenge, everywhere.

I welcome any scripture that speaks of good Friday.

On this day 1987 years ago: Jesus rose from the grave

Spring Feasts:

Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Pentecost

Jesus died on Passover, was buried on Unleavened Bread & rose on Firstfruits.

2017: Thurs 4/6/17 (Nisan 10) the Passover Lamb would be chosen (Ex 12). Mon 4/10/17 is Nisan 14 lamb would be killed (Lev 23:5).

FIRSTFRUITS: RESURRECTION DAY!

It was on Firstfruits that Christ rose from the grave. Resurrection day this year begins at sundown Thurs April 13, 2017 & ends Fri at sundown. Any day is a great day to celebrate Christ Resurrection. Today is this years actual corresponding day.

When the Temple stood this day marked the official commencement of the grain (main/largest) harvest (Deut 16:7)

The firstfruits/sheaf of the barley harvest was brought to the Temple as a wave offering (Leviticus 23:9-14).

The waving of the sheaf/firstfruits, was a dedication before God and sanctified the whole harvest field.

Jesus is the Firstfruits to Resurrect from the grave. Recorded in Matt 27: Christ brings a wave offering before God with Him:

Matthew 27:51-53
51 Jesus dies; and behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. (OLD COVENANT ENDS RIGHT HERE!)

52 ""The tombs also were opened"". ""And many bodies of the saints who had died were raised"",

53 ""and coming out of the tombs"" ""after his resurrection"" ""they went into the holy city and appeared to many""

Paul also ties the Feast of Firstfruits together by linking Christ's Resurrection to it, Here:

1 Corinthians 15:
20 ""But now Christ is risen from the dead"", ""and has become the firstfruits"" ""of those who have died"".

21 For since by one man (Adam) came death, by one Man (Jesus Christ) also came the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall (Believers) be made alive.

23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming

Hey!

First Fruits IS Pentecost, 50 days after Pesach.

Try again.

I'll bet you actually think that Good Friday was invented by that nasty ole pope feller, right?

A glorious Pascha to all.

MIRACULOUS AND UNIQUE EVENTS: DEATH to RESURRECTION of JESUS the DIVINE MESSIAH, THE CHRIST, THE GOD-MAN...(WITHOUT the MATH...ONLY SCRIPTURES AND LOGIC)

Matthew 16:21 [ Jesus Foretells His Death ]
From that time Jesus began to show His DISCIPLES that
1. He must go to Jerusalem, and
2. suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and
3. be killed, and
4. be raised up on the third day.

Matthew 17:23
and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.

Matthew 20:19
and will hand Him over to the Gentiles
1.to mock and
2. scourge and
3. crucify Him, and
4. on the third day He will be raised up.”

Luke 9:22 ..saying,
“The Son of Man must
1. suffer many things and
2. be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and
3. be killed and
4. be raised up on the third day.”

COUNTING BACKWARDS!

A: "WEDNESDAY" ...The "Last Supper", Gethsemane, seized ...and "day" ends (sunset ~7pm to sunrise ~7 am)

B: "Thursday"...multiple illegal trials, beaten, flogged, carries cross, crucified (~1 pm) and Body/Soul dies, Spirit committed (~3 pm), body entombed ...and "day" ends (sunset ~7pm to sunrise ~7 am)...1 night elapses (non-day)

C: Friday + Saturday...2 more FULL nights and days elapse. Jesus in a transformed "spirit-body" descends to (spiritual realm) of Hades + Paradise to set the captives free and fulfills "Abrahams Bosom"

D: Sunday (the first day of the week + on the third day) at ~sunrise "He has RISEN! and makes many "spirit-body" appearances before many eyewitness before/during ascension.

HE HAS RISEN...INDEED!

Christ said he would be 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth.
Show me your 3 nights.
"A day and a night" is a figure of speech, an example of synechdoche, where the whole refers to the part or the part refers to the whole. It becomes obvious that "3 days and 3 nights" is a figure of speech because Jesus also said He would rise on the 3rd day, and indeed He did as the encounter on the road to Emmaus confirms.

1st we know He was 30 when he began, we know His earthly ministry was 3 1/2 years, we know the Temple was destroyed in 70 ad. Do a study on 40. We know when he died there was an eclipse at noon, the earth was dark. We have astrological programs now that can place the eclipse & the Star of Bethlehem at 30 ad.
How often do eclipses last for 3 hours?
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
The longest it can take for the moon to pass in front of the sun is about 2 hours, but the sun is only completely blocked for a maximum of 7 and a half minutes. That isn't what the Scriptures describe as happening.

"the synoptic's"...Whazzat?...The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are referred to as the Synoptic Gospels...POOR JOHN!

"Jesus died on a Friday"
Please copy + paste from the NASB Bible all supporting verses: HERE!

"Last Supper was a seder" ...the meal was to celebrate PASSOVER.

SEE: "How a Passover Seder became the Last Supper"

https://kehilanews.com/2017/04/13/how-a-passover-seder-became-the-last-supper/

When the hour had come, He sat down and the twelve apostles with Him. Then He said to them, ‘With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.'”(Luke 22:14-16)

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial, and you shall keep it a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.” (Exodus 12:14)

The blood atonement is the connection between the Christian celebration of Easter and the Jewish celebration of Passover.

JOHN 13:1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that his hour had come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come forth from God, and was going back to God, 4 rose from supper, and laid aside his garments; and taking a towel, he girded himself about. 5 Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.

Last Supper - Was it the Passover Meal? - Here a little, there a little - Holy Days

We can see that the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) do not conflict with John's account of the "last supper" when understood correctly. A careful study of all four Gospels shows that Yeshua and the disciples did eat the Passover meal. They simply prepared for the Passover by deleavening the location they planned to use for the Feast. Afterward they ate some type of celebratory or preparatory meal on the evening of Nisan 14. At this supper, Yeshua instituted the New Covenant symbols of the bread and wine. After the meal, Judas Iscariot rose and left to betray Yeshua to the Jewish authorities. When approached with an open mind and the belief that the Scriptures cannot be broken (John 10:35), we can reconcile all these accounts.

First off the term "sedar" is a post 70 A.D. concept and took centuries to reach its modetn form.
Jesus used leavened bread. it was not a passover meal. This is why early Christians always used leaven bread for the Eucharist including the Latin Church till they switched to flat wafers in the 9th century. This is why Luke 22.16 teaches NOT to observe the Jewish passover. This is why Mark 14.2 makes clear the jewish authorities needed to have Jesus arrested BEFORE the start of the passover. The last Supper took place on the final night leavened bread was allowed to be consumed. This is why Paul teaches that Christ is our paschal lamb and the only unleavened bread should be our attitudes not to be puffed up with malice and sin. Notice he says Jesus the Paschal lamb is our Festival 1 Cor 5.6. If Jesus was the paschal lamb slaughtered as Paul historically places it before the first passover meal can take place. And if the passover had yet to take place thrn our FESTIVAL was instituted on a day before the consuming of azyme.

"Jesus died on a Friday"

Luke 23:53-54-
52 this man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 And he took it down and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had ever lain. 54 It was the preparation day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. 55 Now the women who had come with Him out of Galilee followed, and saw the tomb and how His body was laid. 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes.
And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.
Mark 15.42
42 When evening had already come, because it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.

Jesus last supper was NOT a passover meal:
Matt 26.2-5 (NASB)
2 “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be handed over for crucifixion.”

3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, named Caiaphas; 4 and they plotted together to seize Jesus by stealth and kill Him. 5 But they were saying, “Not during the festival, otherwise a riot might occur among the people.”

Mark 14:2
2 for they were saying, “Not during the festival, otherwise there might be a riot of the people.”

Mark 15:6
6 Now at the feast he used to release for them any one prisoner whom they requested.

2 And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him, 3

So what are we arguing about? The last supper took place before the passover as John 13 states. Also Matthew 26 makes clear it was Jesus own passover meal:

26.1 When Jesus had finished all these words, He said to His disciples,2 “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be handed over for crucifixion.....17. Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near; I am to keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.

Jesus has already said that his crucifixion will occur on the passover. Already established that his arrest will take place before the passover festivities commence. And had to hurry up and put together his own secretive final meal, "my time is near, I am to keep the passover at your house" The disciples never ate pesach lamb (no mention of any lamb) because Christ became 'our' paschal lamb at the Feast as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 5:7-8

Hey!

First Fruits IS Pentecost, 50 days after Pesach.

Try again.

I'll bet you actually think that Good Friday was invented by that nasty ole pope feller, right?

A glorious Pascha to all.

Jack Isaacks,

Pentecost IN NOT fristfruits. First fruits is the 3rd day of a 50 count called Omer. It begins on Unleavened Bread and ends on Pentecost.

My post lists the info, found in Lev 23:

Lev 23:
9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
(BRING A SHEAF ON THE FIRSTFRIUTS OF YOU HARVEST. OF A BUNDLE AT THE FIRST SIGN OF BUDDING)

11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
(WAVE THE SHEAF (bundle) BEFORE THE LORD)

12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD.

15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
(START COUNTING THE DAY AFTER THE SABBATH, COUNT 7 SABBATHS, of 7 days x 7 weeks. Ok, START COUNT 49 DAYS PLUS the 1 = 50 days. THIS IS CALLED COUNTING THE OMER.

JACK, DO A SIMPLE GOOGE SEARCH: COUNTING THE OMER)

Spring Feasts of the Lord: (Read Lev 23)
Jesus died on Passover, was buried on Unleavended Bread, Rose on Firstfriuts. And 50 days later at Pentecost sent the Holy Spirit. And the Christian Church was born!

Compare the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1 Cor 15:1-4

1 Cor 15:
1 Brethren, I declare unto you """the gospel""" which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 """By which also ye are saved""", if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died (PASSOVER) for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried (UNLEAVENED BREAD), and that he rose (FIRSTFRUITS) again the third day according to the scriptures:

Ron Gurley,
The notion they ate leavened bread at the last supper is unscriptural.

Exodus 12:
1 And """the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying""",

2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, """In the tenth day of this month""" they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
(NISAN 10 = CHOOSE A LAMB)

4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

6 And ye shall keep it up until """the fourteenth day of the same month""": and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall """kill it in the evening""".
(NISAN 14 = KILL THE LAMB)

7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and """unleavened bread"""; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
(UNLEAVENED BREAD)

9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.

12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for """whosoever eateth leavened bread""" from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
(DURING PASSOVER: 7 DAYS YOU ARE TO EAT UNLEVENED BREAD ONLY. OR YOU WILL BE CAST OUT FROM AMOUNG THE PEOPLE )

16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
(THE FIRST DAY IS NISAN 15)

17 And ye shall observe """the feast of unleavened bread"""; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.

18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.
(STARTING ON THE 14TH DAY OF NISAN UNTIL THE 21ST DAY OF NISAN. YOU SHALL EAT """UNLEAVENED BREAD ONLY""")

19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
(NO LEAVEN TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE. I HAVE JEWISH FRIENDS THAT THROW AWAY THEIR TOASTERS EVERY YEAR, TO BE SURE NO LEAVEN IS IN THIER HOUSE)

20 Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.
(ONLY EAT """UNLEAVENED BREAD""" EAT NOTHING LEAVENED)

Jesus wrote the law & gave it to Moses. Jesus taught the law, preached the law and kept the law. Not just the 10 commandments. Jesus kept the entire 613 Mitzvah commands.

Finally, Nisan 14 is called the day of preparation. Because the 1st day of the feast of unleavened bread is a high Sabbath (reread Ex 12:16 above)

Everything was prepared on Nisan 14. So, this is the Last Supper not the Seder Meal. Jesus was dead the day the Seder begins.

I totally agree with post #54 above ... Good Job!

One small point: Jesus spiritually FULFILLED the Mosaic law.

Matthew 5:17
“Do not think that I came to abolish the (Mosaic) Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

Luke 24:44...Post resurrection Jesus:
Now He said to them (closest followers),
“These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you,
that all things which are written about Me
in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

"Rabbi" Jesus confirmed and clarified the Law and added new commandments and precepts and examples. As to the BIG TEN, He did NOT confirm: "...remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy..." .

Hello again Ron,

I agree Jesus came to fulfil the law. Its not until the completion of His sinless sacrificial death that the laws requirement for sin (death) is met. Jesus resurrection is God's stamp of acceptance & approval.

To anyone reading this that may disagree with you & I.

Rom 10:4 "Christ is the end of the law" for righteousness to every one that believes
(WHEN WE BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS PERFECT SIN SACRIFICE & RESURRECTION. GOD JUDICIALLY DECLARES US RIGHTEOUS THRU OUR FAITH. NOT OUR LAW KEEPING

JESUS CAME TO FULFIL THE LAW:
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
(ANYONE CLAIMING THE LAW IS STILL IN EFFECT. IS CLAIMING MESSIAH FAILED AT HIS MISSION!)

WILL OF THE FATHER:
Matt 7:21 Jesus said; Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; """"but he that doeth the will of my Father"""" which is in heaven.

HOW WE DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER:
John 6:40 Jesus said; This is the will of him that sent me, that every one which """seeth the Son, and believeth on him""", may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
(THE WILL OF THE FATHER IS: PLACE YOU FAITH IN THE SIN ATONING DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST)

Jess took άρτος not αζημε. Artos means whole bread. They were not eating unleavened bread if the last supper took place before the feast

You are welcome to trust Strong's or Vine's or whatever translator you C&P artos from.

I'll stick with the Exodus scriptures I posted.

The original koine greek. Artos means "loaf" as opposed to "lagana" signifying a flat bread and any greek reader would assume standard leavened bread. The custom throughout scripture is to refer to unleavened bread as azyme or make the qualification that it is.
