Okay cool. Follow up if I may: Does a man have the nature will or ability to lead a sinless life?
Really? You don’t think believing pleases God?Pleasing God and believing are two different things entirely.
If you know God, you will end up like Peter, but if you don't know God you end up like Judas.
Really? You don’t think believing pleases God?
I certain do.
Well, we aren’t talking about believing God exists. Everyone does. See Romans 1.Demons believe in God, James 2:19.
Really? You don’t think believing pleases God?
I certain do.
God loves everyone?Of course believing pleases God but believing and doing nothing does not please Him as James pointed out satan and demons believe and they tremble in fear of God’s wrath.
Well, we aren’t talking about believing God exists. Everyone does. See Romans 1.
We are talking about believing the gospel.
Now you are deflecting from the argument.Even believing the gospel is not the only requirement to receive salvation. Believing is only the first step towards salvation. We are also called to bear fruit and obey God’s commandments. Matthew 7:21-24 these people believed they were saved and yet Jesus rejects them because of their disobedience. Matthew 25:31-46 the goats are rejected because they didn’t love others. Their lack of fruit or works was evidence of their lack of love for others. John 15:1-15 Jesus discusses this subject.
Now you are deflecting from the argument.
You said “We are still a natural man until we receive the indwelling Spirit. I just said it is possible that the Holy Spirit plays a role in our calling to believe.”
I showed that you cannot please God in the flesh. And believing the gospel is pleasing to God. So the natural man cannot do this.
Once again, we cannot please God in the flesh. Why are you insisting that we can?I noticed nobody answered my question are you born again before you believe? The natural man is not born of the Spirit he is of the flesh. In order to receive the indwelling Holy Spirit we must first believe. We can receive help from the Holy Spirit before we receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Our believing, if it is from the help of the Holy Spirit, pleases God.
Once again, we cannot please God in the flesh. Why are you insisting that we can?
Once again, we cannot please God in the flesh. Why are you insisting that we can?
Yes. I could not please God in the flesh. So you were born again before you believed then?
That’s not what I said, so yeah, it makes no sense. So according to you we can believe and have faith before we hear the gospel and we are born again before we believe?!! This makes no sense at all.
That’s not what I said, so yeah, it makes no sense.
Yes. I could not please God in the flesh.
How about you? Could you please Him in the flesh?
I never said anything about being indwelled. I’m talking about a changed heart.I’ve never seen a case of someone receiving the indwelling Holy Spirit before they believed anywhere in the scriptures or anywhere period for that matter.
