It will take some discernment on our part. Remember that anyone can change their denominational icon at will now. They no longer have to PM a mod to change it. I have already encountered an atheist sporting an Anglican icon. Pitiful actually.

I think it would, members of this forum want their own Icon. Why would matter to him?
His new rules found here state that he is for open faith icons.

f. No more restriction of faith icons - who are we to tell you who you are or what you believe in? In fact, no other restrictions - if you want to call yourself married, go ahead. It is between you and God, not you and CF.

I think OBOB is working towards having some kind of existing-member-referral requirement (I think it's a minimum 3 people needed to refer a new member) for new members before they're allowed to sport an icon. Chances are, if they want it, CF will do it.

One thing working in our favour is that not too many people want to wear a Fundie icon because so many people around here hate Fundies. But I would like to see it be something that isn't so easy to change. Otherwise, we'll see people using it just to post, and then removing it later.

That's why it wouldn't a normal icon...DUHR!!! :p

jk;)

Seriously, it would be a special icon for members of this forum only. If Erwin doesn't allow it then O well, although I don't think he should have too much of a problem with it.

Yeah, that's my point - there is absolutely no indication that Erwin would allow a rule like that. It is, essentially, a faith icon, whether you call it that or not. There's no restriction on who can show it. Or if it's like the right-to-life ribbons in signatures, anyone can display it, even if you were pro-choice. Erwin has stated (unless he's subsequently changed his position) that you can call yourself anything you want, and no one has the authority to say otherwise, regardless of really being what you claim or not.

What a mess over a few millimeters of pixels, huh?

When I was new to the Faith, my parents told me to go for a councelling session with a local RC priest. I don't know why that man chose to disclose his secret to me (could it be the Holy Spirit can direct the mouth of anyone?), but that man told me after only a few minutes of conversation that he was an atheist. That he was an RC priest only because he liked the job security and the lifestyle.

Now, I am CERTAIN that there are many protestant ministers that are ministers for all reasons other than God. This is not to rag on the RCC specifically. What I'm saying is that people can fake anything they want.

I would like a fundy icon so I can put it on as a shortcut of declaring my honest position. If some other person sports it wrongly, it will eventually be to his detriment when it becomes obvious he is not what he claims.

Just a thought, since faith icons and other identifiers can now be chosen by anyone at all on CF, why not use the new icon as an avatar. That would allow it to be given out and used only to those approved by the regulars in this forum. If you weren't approved, you wouldn't be able to simply choose it from a list. It would mean those choosing to display this symbol would have to give up their personal avatars, but it would restrict who displayed the new one. It would also allow for a larger or more detailed symbol, the size limitation would be removed....

That certainly would be an alternative. I however hope that we get a special Icon that can only be given to CC members aside from our icon.

How does that prevent anyone from getting it?
