Fundie Icon?

I am concerned about SS as a symbol for Fundamentalists.

SS reminds me of that Nazi group. It could come off rather negative.

I think a small Bible picture similar but different from Baptists could be good - like an open Bible.

How about an open bible? Kind of like the one that you can get for your character. I don't think any letters would be necessary.

That would be good..... cuz I am a fundie and i dont even know what SS is.

Keep in mind the icon will be this size

so text is not really an option. I do like the idea of an open bible though.

I love the idea and would add whatever icon is decided upon to my profile.

I like the idea of the open bible. How about a cross superimposed upon the open bible.... With all the new rules and such here at CF, I really think a cross will be necessary to identify one as a Christian... Just my $.02.

This one is just the open Bible from the CF character options (with a few tweaks).

This is all I could do with any writing because of the size of the icon. I managed to fit "Sola" on it, but I don't think we'll be able to get a cross on it too without it compromising the Sola text. (Yikes that would sound rather blashpemous out of context!)

I also tried adding Sola to the open one, but it just wasn't big enough to read. If someone has time to try different fonts, there might be something that works. I just haven't had time.

A confused smiley with a dunce cap - seems as that's how we are viewed by others, including the Admin here. I reported a post that said being a fundamentalist means you are "less reasonable" than others. All the Mods who posted in the report said "no violation".

OK, I think we've got a pretty good consensus on this issue. Now, any ideas how we proceed? I'm guessing this will have to be a whole new section for people to select from, like maybe Fundie, Conservative, Liberal, etc. We don't want it to become just another denominational icon because that would mean members will have to give up their denominational icons to wear the Fundie one, and that could mean they have trouble posting in whatever denominational forum they belong to. Ideas? Is it easier to just wear it in the signature area or something? Or shall we petition CF to add this as a whole new feature?

I think a side icon would be fine. But it shouldn't be required, just a preference.

The problem with it is that some people would want to keep their denominational icon as well. For instance, a member who posts regularly in, say, the Baptist forum, may not want to give up the Baptist icon because it could mean they are no longer welcome in that forum. So that's where it gets tricky.
