Fundie Icon?

Thanks. I think we need to be clear on what we're proposing here as well. Some want this icon to be part of the congregational icon choices, and some want somehting new to add to the profiles. I'm for option two personally. But if we have that, there may need to be other options added, like liberal, conservative, etc. before we can go ahead with anything. Should we have another *gasp!* poll on this? lol

I would also like to see this icon be similar to what the congregational icons used to be, where steps must be taken to change it (whether it be member votes or application to the mods, etc.). This will require people to take some time to think about which icon they want to display, instead of just changing it every time the want to post in a particular forum.

(sidenote: I think it's fair to assume CF will be going ahead with the current changes, regardless of the "vote" on the issue. So that's why I think we need to continue pursuing this kind of option.)

Here is the answer I received from freeinChrist.

If you want an icon to use with a denominational one, then ask in Request New Features. If it is one to replace a denominational one - I think that is the place as well, and provide the chosen icon.

I guess now we just need to define how we want the icon.

Desmalia, reading through the thread it seems that many want to be able to keep their faith icons and merely just add our fundie icon. IMHO, I don't think we need another poll, just some discussion.

What do you all think?

I think that will mean that we will need to work with other groups on CF to see how many options to include in this new feature. Should it just be "Fundamentalist, Conservative, Liberal", or should there be more? And if we go with these three, all camps will have to be on board before the management would consider implementing this. I know the Conservative forum discussed this briefly and many of them seemed to like the idea. But they ended up letting it go for now. I think we may have to re-open the discussion with them as well as the liberals. In addition, we have a potential draft graphic for us, but they will need to come up with their own icons as well. Might be a good idea get that completed before applying for the new feature.

I'm wondering if a poll in the general area would be helpful to see what direction this can take. It might be a challenge to get this approved. I think the direction CF is trying to go in is one where no one represents or stands for anything - more of a melting pot than a place of individuality (You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile! lol). Members wanting to define their beliefs more strongly kinda goes against that.

As a Catholic this is really none of my bussiness, if you guys want your own icon more power to you, but one of the things I always respected about fundamentalists is that you normally downplay denominations and if you believe in the fundamentals that were decided upon in like what was it 1905? anyway if you agree with those then you are a fundamentalist, an icon would make you look more like a denomination
oh well just my 2 cents, have fun with it whatever you decide on
