Uh ... no! If you consider a forum restructure to be a "falling away", then you have the most broad and loose definition of "falling away" that I have ever seen. Geez, it's just a few pixels on a screen, a few syllables. As KerrMetric says, CF is a function of its members - its name by no means indicates its spiritual status. I don't know how a messageboard is meant to "fall away" anyway - it's pretty inanimate! And as the membership itself is the same today as it was yesterday, I think your charge is baseless.

I agree. If I'd known this in April I might have waited or at least paid only a short subscription instead of 5 years. I have no option now - I am, like it or not, supporting this with my money, and what I believed I was paying into has gone.

Although I do wish we still were called Christian Forums not to mention I wonder what is going to happen to the mdse. This seems to be a very serious step.

Good Grief! Look at all you Christians complaining about a name?? Where does it say in the Bible that we are to seclude ourselves from society? (Unequally yoked means dont marry! Not hide your light!) Every single day we should be prepared to answer what we believe and why. Every single place we find ourselves, and to every one. We are to go out and witness. Not preach not condemn but SHOW that we believe in our faith.

Where is your faith? Do you not believe God is greater than any problems set before you?

I think Erwin made a good choice. There is no question in my mind he is leaving this to God. I am certainly not going to discourage that. I hope to see things get better and better from here. If you are a Christian that feels that you just cannot handle it, then go. I hate to see it though. I would much rather we all find that place to learn and grow, rather than a place that we stagnate in, or a rut that we have decorated and called home.

So I guess that each forum will be open to all? Or will there be denomination specific places people can congregate in? I am under the impression that each forum should decide for themselves, but are we keeping in line with whoever may post wherever?

CF was never a church.
CF was never a ministry
CF was about the members (in theory anyway.)

You can still meet (electronically) with your church friends.
You can still minister.

Most of all - it is still about the people.

Lighten up people - embrace it for a while and see if it has really changed. If you don't like it after a trial then make your own decisions - but don't knee jerk like sheep based on 5 minutes under a new name - I hope you can do better than that.

I've tried to be open minded with the recent changes but this has crossed the line. You've taken Christ out of ChristianForums and relegated it to just become Forums. CF may have just been a name but it was a banner to the fallen world. I came here for Christian fellowship and the first thing that attracted me to the site was it's name. I certainly wouldn't have clicked on anything called Foru.ms. IMO this is a HUGE mistake.

I believe, at this point, that this is a question that you are required to answer. We are part of your organization, and should have a clear outline of your beliefs.

My response:

If it were just the name I could agree with it seeming to be silly and over-dramatized. But it's not just the name. Now there are SEVERAL large secular forums posted at the top and middle and all the "religious" forums thrown to the very bottom of what everyone was supporting and led to believe as a Christian forum. The whole structure and now future plan for this forum has changed...the name was just a better representation of that change - so when people say they are disappointed in the name...it's largely what that name represents - IMHO.

Ah--maybe I dont get it but shouldt the "Become a Christian Forums Site Supporter today" be changed? Since this is no longer a Christian forum?

Just reading the glee from some of the athiest members is chilling.
I am very sad at this change and for the life of me can not imagine anyone paying for a name like Foru.ms--what on earth does it mean anyway?

Could we have been any less creative when taking Jesus out of the equation?
No matter--there are other real Chrisitan sites out there--I am terribly sad about this and can not imagine or maybe I have not been around long enough to begin to understand why anyone would tear down a site they set up for Christ.

Boggles the mind and yes--monies paid for a Christian site need to be returned as well as the as the site supporter that still asks for money in Christs name.

I don't "embrace" everything automatically. and this place DID have a commonality in at least the Nicene Creed for the Christian sections.
There was at least some general agreement as to "christianity", this new format basically wipes that right out to being anything anyone defines it is.

I am lightened up, but CF/Erwin IMO took the LOW ROAD as far as protection OF CHRISTIANS and their faith. He could have just changed the Christian member definition - PROBLEM SOLVED.
We're now wide open to all skeptic attack from everyone, everywhere! (and if you're one who redefines what Christianity is, then I can bet you would be happy with this new change; many WILL like it up front.

I am giving it time, but I do see some alarming negative changes and I base that on coming out of an open Christian-based chat forum where the non Christians pushed the Christians right out and they left due to continually contending against their faith & beliefs.

You know, I think Erwin was rather clear on his intent of this remaining a Christian value site. I would not be so concerned about that right now. Don't forget.. Jesus sat with the sinners. It seems to me God has allowed something different in your path -- do you rise to the occasion or run?

I also wonder, if eventually this turns out badly, if it would be possible for the Christian members of this forum to rally together and raise money to buy the site back off of Erwin, or buy back the original domain name, or whatever, something to bring the original name and domain back?
