Well, change can be good -- it looks more to me tho, like he's just opened up the site to be generic and secular, sprinkling it with some Christianity: "BE GOOD LIKE JESUS ASKED YOU TO, KIDS"
Opened up all areas (subjecting all Christians) to undergo skeptic attacks on our faith & beliefs - compromising THE PEACE Christians seek in their own areas to enjoy.
:swoon: :sigh: :help: :help:

In other words, if Joe Blow believes Jesus is a pencil and is already "saved", & is here to contend our faith - that's all good, just try to get along with Joe.
True Christians here will probly eventually get trampled to death by skeptics & liberalism without the necessary Christian protections provided by the rules imo.

The RIGHT way to go for change (for us Christians) would've been to actually define the broad and central definition of "Christian" for members - incl. that one must accept the Bible as inspired by God. Problem solved and the format could have been kept as it was using Christian & NON Christian sections.

I'm real leary of this new format that doesn't seem to have any CHRISTIAN sections to protect us from continual attacks on our faith.
I had just come OUT of a Christian chat forum that was wide open to the secular, and came here for some protection within some Christian confines!

I wonder if maybe Erwin himself is more in favor of the new liberalism infiltrating the church - maybe it's affected him to go this route. He seems to have listened more to non Christians than Christians to structure this site.

AT first glance, it looks like we're going to be free game for the Lions in the Roman colloseums as their entertainment for awhile (if we even stay long enough to get chewed up).
Lord help us, I pray I'm wrong.

*ps. thanks to Erwin for his hard work, I do enjoy CF! But if this harms Christians who end up leaving in droves, I can only say this: "if your decisions harm the faith and those of the faith God holds you accountable for damages to His kingdom".

As soon as I saw this name change, my desire to post here as frequently stopped. The reason I found CF was doing a search for CHRISTIAN forums/fellowship/message boards. Why be lukewarm? There is no appeal in that. If I wanted regular forums, they are ALL over the internet....I came here because I thought it was different.

Very disappointed in this change.

I'm saddened that Christian has been removed totally from the forefront. I don't care so much about the name change, but I'd like to have seen at least a mention to the effect of Christian principles or something.

Bottom line though, is name change or not, hopefully this is the same forum, filled with the same Christian and kind people that I've been meeting.

While I don't agree with most of the changes made here, do the changes mean we aren't a group of Christians who are seeking support and having fun?

I pray this will stay a good, safe Christian community, but that will only happen if you and I continue to act like Christians in our interactions here. If it doesn't stay safe, then we'll need to decide where God wants us to be.

With that said, Erwin, I appreciate your hard work, and I hope you will somehow keep it known that this is a forum run on Christian principles.

In Him,
Kristen

I feel our leaders are throwing us to the wolves, especially with no warning about taking away the name christian from the site. I also would not have joined a site described this way, when I was looking for Christian Forum, it was specifically "christian" not just "for me". some of us really appreciate the intimate christian fellowship, it is like family, there are legitimate differences between christians and non

Wow. This happened waaaaaaaay ahead of time.

Erwin, if you remember correctly, we Catholics had planned to send in a whole army of albino monks and Jesuits to destroy the Protestant majority and institute the reign of Antichrist. That's all flushed down the toilet now. All our planning has been ruined. The Holy Father and the Roman Curia will not be happy about this. :p^_^;):D

In all seriousnesses though, I'm completely opposed to the name change. Bad move.

I am confused. Wasn't the poll to decide this? Wasn't option 2 about 100 points ahead? Isn't this option 1? Of course I'm obviously not up to speed, so please would someone remove my error. :)

If the site is to be guided based on Christian principles, then this is not something to be hidden but something to be shouted from the rooftops! If 'Christian forums,' sounded exclusivist, a Chrisitian-yet-inclusive name could well have been found. Agapeforums? Yet if the name has been bought this is presumably irreversible. No offfence intended, Erwin, or any lack of gratitude for your expenditure, but many will continue to call this site CF; apart from anything else, it's what we're used to.
:)

And, you can already see that the non Christians are extremely happy the name change was done.
:(

I'm not happy about it. I'm fairly ambivalent about it really.

I was fine with it being Christian Forums and knew this was a place where I could interact with christians. I was very fine with it after the 777 reforms where I could interact with christians as an equal.

Others were not fine with that at all and raised a stink that if certain 'orthodox' christian viewpoints were not part and parcel of the forum then the name should be changed. Since Erwin apparently did not want to return to the days of 'orthodox' christianity ruling with an iron fist, he acceded to this one demand of theirs.

If people really don't like it, they should take it up with those that demanded that the name be changed if it wasn't going to be pure and orthodox ... and that wasn't Erwin.

You can change the skin of what use to be CF....you can change the name...you can even change the inner workings....but the people will remain the same and there will still be arguing and bickering. So in essence nothing has changed.

Excuse me Erwin, But YOU have robbed us of CHRISTIAN forums! I have never agreed to be a member of some 'social networking thing'!

3 years ago I became a member of Christian forums. And now it is just like thousands others. I came here to share and seek advice from Christians, and THAT was the difference! If I wanted to be a member of whatever other forums I would do so.

I freel tricked! I do not want to be a member of this whatever- cos I am a member of other forums, as well... comuters, dancing, just hanging out. and this one was my CHRISTIAN forum! I loved it and I am TRUELY HONESTLY shocked to see that Christianity was taken out of it!

I paid up for five years this spring, because after being here for 3 years already I felt secure that it was a site worth supporting.
