Foru.ms - a new beginning and a fresh start

don't know how this site can be a "light to the world" when it is no longer identified as Christian. I came to this site because I did a web search for a Christian forum. I imagine that most people found this site that way. Right now, when I do a web search for Christian forum, this site still is at the top. But I imagine that it won't stay there. And, when you go to the site it is the foru.m thingy at the top there - the social networking stuff - if I had seen that I would never have joined this forum. I joined because it was Christian. And, with the Christian stuff way at the bottom, a new visitor may never even scroll down far enough to see it even if they are not turned away by the whole social networking stuff there.
I have put my pet in daycare for a month and will pop in occasionally, but I don't think I will be around much.

Btw, I haven't sold part or all of the site. I still own the site 100%. I did have to go and buy the domain foru.ms though. Just so people know.

No offense Erwin, but that was a serious waste of money in my opinion. There was nothing wrong with the original URL or domain name that required replacement.

Erwin, I get the feeling that you just had big dreams for your website and wanted it to be bigger and better, but unfortunately this decision has angered the majority of the member base.

I hope, for the sake of this website, that you reconsider these changes. Continuing down this path will cost much more than a domain change.

Yeah that's what I always find so sad about churches spending millions of dollars for a big shiny new building, and charities making personalized keychains to send to past contributors in an effort to get them to contribute again. It's such a waste.

I'm a little suprised the name was changed but it doesn't bother me. Now a lot more people can join and we will have lots of members of different faiths. And we can minister to them and show them the right way. Who would we minister to if we were all Christians?

Nothing that hasn't been said before but...
It's been two days since I have been there. I feel that time must have been two years because of what has happened. I am disgusted at the changes and I am protesting at every chance I get. I came to CF because I was looking for a Christian forum. Notice the attention I give to the word Christian. Now that it has become yet another secular website, I count absolutely every hour I have ever spent here as wasted. I feel like throwing a bible at Erwin's face.

The problem with the new foru.ms is that the Christians will leave. Erwin is destroying the biggest Christian forum in the world over the mistake of trying to bring all Christians together under one roof. This also means secularizing it to the point to where Christianity isn't even visible anymore. All Christianity has been pushed down to the bottom of the site as an afterthought. It has primarily become a social forum first, and a Christian forum second. The world doesn't need another secular site. It needs Christian guidance and that won't happen with these changes.

The new changes were meant to not scare away the people who find religion offensive. But the only people that should even be interested in the site would be Christians, agnostics, and seekers. All others have no desire for Christianity and will fight to rid the site of the Christian influence that it still has. This asks the question: What good did the changes actually do? It's annoying, and doesn't make any sense.



Why does Erwin think this change will benefit Christians? If you only count the name change, think about what will be lost. I came to CF because of the name. I know that I have learned a great deal in the short time that I have been here. Without the name, Christians like myself wont come here. Without the name, people interested (Seekers) wont come here and we can't help them. Now they are shoving all Christianity aside and promoting it as a secular site. Erwin's a smart man. He runs a hospital and is an elder in his church. You would think that all the thousands of protests that he has gotten should have persuaded him to see the truth, but he has not. I am very angry with him and his corrupt and Godless "vision."

I hope for those of who stay and try to ride this out awhile, that we can come up with a game plan in how to cope with what I think is going to be coming down the trail in our Faith Section (formerly known as CHRISTIAN section )

Anyways, if we continue our 'fighting' with the skeptics that come after us to BAIT US INTO chronically having to defend ourselves, God or our faith, it will really play into their hands to take their bait & argue....

I'd like to suggest that when or IF they start coming to challenge, that maybe we just quote God's word to them and let THAT be our defense??

When Satan tried Jesus and when others went after Christ, He always quoted God's word - it's His WORD that holds the power, not so much our eloquent reasoning.

I hope we do more SCRIPTURE POSTING than haggling and bickering - I've never seen fighting win the hardcore skeptics. I'll need to pray for patience in trying this, but I really feel if we handle this God's way, maybe it won't wipe us out.

Just some thoughts - I'm completely numb from all this today.

In one way, this taught me something - I didn't know how much I DID like CF (problems and all) until it turned secular.
My worry is more for Erwin's spiritual................. nevermind. People don't just "shed GOD" to this extent if something deeper isn't going on

No offense but it isn't the mods or admins who brought this on, it was Erwin. From what I've seen he more or less lied to everyone already so it's rather hard to trust anything good coming out of this place now.
