When it comes to origins of words, an etymological dictionary is a good source. For the word "gravity" I found the following: "from Old French gravité "seriousness, thoughtfulness" (13c.) and directly from Latin gravitatem (nominative gravitas) "weight, heaviness, pressure," from gravis "heavy" (from PIE root *gwere- (1) "heavy"). The scientific sense of "downward acceleration of terrestrial bodies due to gravitation of the Earth" first recorded 1620s." So no named person invented the word.

So it weren't Newton then ?

Proof please :)

I was being facetious.

Why does it matter if you know the name of the person who created the word or not? It doesn't change the fact that gravity exists, it has been studied and has been found to be a satisfactory cause for a lot of things.

... 'a fictitious word'. As opposed to the naturally grown and naturally formed words that we use every day, yes?

fictitious
  • apocryphal.
  • bogus.
  • counterfeit.
  • fabricated.
  • false.
  • fanciful.
  • fictional.
  • imaginary.

@Apple Sky use the laugh emoji all you want, but you've presented nothing to even hint that anything you've said can be remotely true., Biblically or otherwise.
No.......What about this ?

@Apple Sky even if you do not understand math, elementary physics, the inspiration of the Bible, dismiss photos, videos and live streams from space and call many people who saw the globe liars, you can see that the Earth is not flat from our common experience.

1. During the lunar eclipse, you can see the shape of the Earth on the Moon
2. Sunsets - sometimes, you can see the clouds lit from below, after the Sun is gone behind the horizon
3. You can see satellites or the ISS, if you time and position your telescope properly

Not sure, but enough to make a difference to some. Even if they don't this doesn't stop the horizon being flat as a pancake.
It does make the argument uncompelling. What is routinely missing from flat-earth proponents' arguments is quantitative. Without numbers, it is just hand-waving.

One need not be in a jet aircraft to observe the curvature of the earth from very different places on or around earth - from the ISS, SpaceX Dragon capsules, or even high-altitude balloons. No window curvature arguments apply in these cases.

But did he call it gravity ?
No idea - it's another thing which is not mentioned in the Bible.
Probably because the Bible's not a science textbook; did I mention that?
