I heard that the wind is caused by trees waving their branches around. I can actually see It happening in my garden right now.
At sea its caused by waves.

his post clearly wasn't informed by in class teaching.
Public school teaching standards are not what they used to be. It's more about everyone having a safe space to use their preferred pronouns than learning how to think critically.

It's easier to learn if your school day isn't a continuous assault on your identity.

That seems to be right wing propaganda.

I'm sure at secondary school level, they teach people that Earth is round and revolves around the sun, and that the sun is round, and that the moon revolves around the earth and that the moon is round, and that there are several other round planets that also revolve around the sun, and that we call this the solar system, and that there are other stars which may also have planets and belong to their own solar systems, and that a collection of these solar systems around us belong to the milky way galaxy which is a spiral galaxy and at the centre is a massive black hole. and that they universe has many galaxies.

Actually, you would be surprised at the amount of basic stuff that simply isn't taught in public schools. A lot depends on the character of the school principal, but I've had to fill in a lot of gaps in my own children's education.

That the Earth isn't flat is VERY basic. We're not talking about Ohm's Law here.

It's so basic it's assumed it is common knowledge. There may also be a problem where junior school assumes it'll be taught in senior school, while senior school assumes it was covered in junior. I've seen this with English grammar when I went to school and that was shortly after the dinosaurs went extinct. I don't believe the standards have been improving since then.

I'm always truly impressed how certain segments of the population can LOUDLY proclaim utter nonsense with such confidence.

Can't say what American public school is like, but my guess is that this post is utterly devoid of facts since public schools have a LEGAL OBLIGATION (like all schools) to teach the curriculum outlined in state documents. And of course, when they don't teach that curriculae, they get in big trouble.

Or....crappy homeschool.

I'll go with Occam's Razor here.

I understand there is, currently, growing resistance to teaching Ohm's Law in schools. That would be quite a volte face.

I heard someone wanted to revise Newton's laws. There'd be a reaction to that, I'm sure.

Genesis does not say "flat".
I firmly believe the earth is a sphere. Having said that, a circle can be drawn on a flat piece of paper. So the scripture, "the circle of the earth" does not address the ridiculous flat earth question. That is self evident.

The belief in a flat earth was probably started by empiricists, who didn't realize that the farther you walked the farther the horizon walked with you.

Thousands of years later, when that "circle of the earth" passage was written, empiricists latched on to it as Biblical support of their [mistaken] belief.

Really? You should take a look at your state curriculum and make a point of insisting your school follows your state curriculum (which they are legally obligated to do).

I can say:
Public school teaching standards are not what they used to be. It's more about everyone having a safe space to use their preferred pronouns than learning how to think critically.
is not a factual statement but just an ignorant talking point.
It's not "more about". As I've said before, as a teacher for the past 6 years, I have had those conversations for a total of about 45minutes MAAAAAAYBE.

As for critical thinking, internet forums can tell us that lack of critical thinking is not a unique feature to today's youth.

Sounds like you haven't been in a school recently.
